Savage 110BA. Your Thoughts & Experiences

No worries :) . The 110BA has a big honking brake on it for the .338LM. I just picked up the 110BA in .300WM and it has the same brake. Haven't been able to shoot it yet, but between the brake and the 18 lbs of weight recoil won't be an issue :D

I shoot mine all day, like a 308win. Just don't shoot with snow hanging from a roof or ledge above you, the brake's concussion will make it drop on your head.

How would you compare this to let's say something like the Remington 700 5R? The 5r is around half the price and for the same price as the Savage one could buy the 5r and drop it into an AICS stock.

With the 110ba its all about the cal. For a .338 its a hell of a good gun for the price (IMO) but when it comes to the .300, You can find better for the same price.

Getting the 10ba in .308 is all looks. in that cal I agree, I would opt out for the 5R and get a xlr chassy or something instead. Actually, the HS stock that comes with the 5R is good enough to just get bedded keep the stock.

Just got back from Cabelas in Winnipeg. They had one left, the display model, and it's now mine! It had some minor marks on the bolt from people racking it so I got 10% off, just about 200 bucks. Picked up some H1000 and US869 powder, 250gr HPBT and SBT Sierras, and some CCI primers. Now to give it a good once over, lock tight the rail screws and a good cleaning. Still waiting on the scope and dies but I do have a box of Hornady 250gr that will do nice for the break in.

Nice rifle. I was one of the first to buy one in 308 at Cabelas in Jan. But I guess its just for looks according to AKD, rifle itself is crap.

True and when I bought my 110BA both cal. were available. I decided on the .300WM mainly because I already had a fair amount of match ammo for it and if I decide to start shooting .338LM I will re-barrel with a quality match barrel.

what cal is yours? How is yours for accuracy?

I have the 300wm

This is one of my load tests, I eventually settled on 78.5 gr retumbo under a 190gr SMK traveling at 3130fps. The beauty of this rig in 300WM is the mag lenth of 3.85", you can load to touch the lands and have room to spare. Had it out again yesterday with some decent results and tomorrow will be some 500yrd tests if this fine weather holds out. :)

Has anyone figuered out how to adjust the acutrigger on this thing? I don't know if I am inclined to remove it from the stock, I have the aptitude but I've heard that the action screws need to be torqued in a certian sequence and a certian ammount in order to regain the accuracy it had previous to removing the stock. Anyone have any experience doing this?

I was told remove the grip. Its a standard AR grip as far as I know so it should be one screw or bolt.

Just came back from the range. Has anyone had this issue:
Chamber the round, slap the bolt down. Try to pull the trigger, its stopped in place, won't budge. Pull up the bolt knob, push it back down, fires no problem. Next round, same issue. Happened 4 times out of 30 rounds fired. WTF??

Acccutrigger thing, the pull has to be straight back. Any side movement will lock out the sear release trigger. Try it with loose fit gloves on, you might get 2 out of 10 trigger pulls.

You do have to pull the stock off. I adjusted mine down to the point it was tripping on hard bolt closures too. It wouldn't bother me if it was a range gun and I had all the time in the world to close the bolt slowly but I don't, so I put a little more pressure on it. Now I can't even make it happen but the trigger is still pretty good.

is there an instruction set anywhere? Manual is really vague lol
