I recently got this rifle and decided to post some pics here.
It dates 1915 from the serial number but the Savage guys tell me the barrel markings are circa 1926-1927.
So I am going to get the serial number researched to find out whether it was returned to the factory and rebarreled or maybe the receiver wasn't assembled into a rifle until the 1920's.
The finish is a perfect match on both halves of the takedown so it is a bit of a mystery.
Regardless it is a lovely gun, light and well balanced and the bore is perfect.

If you slug the barrel and find out it's a .311, I recently found the right round nosed bullets from Reliable. I may have cleaned them out a few days ago, but that was the only place in Canada I could find that had it. To save you some time, Speer makes some 180gr and the part number is 2223. I believe Tradex or Budget has brass and dies.

I lucked out and found three boxes of 190 grain factory loads for her so I won't have to handload for a little while.

That is a nice rifle doesn't look like someone hated it and instead kept it in good shape. Also looks like they didn't take it apart too many times either.

Very nice... I love these old gun especially the ones that are taken care of. Have you chambered a .303 savage to check for head spacing and have you fired it? Keep us posted.
