This old Savage is a family heirloom. The magazine has been lost and in order to look for a replacement, I should know what model it is. Or, it probably has no model number, as none is marked on it. It is marked "22 long rifle."
It has four patent dates, ranging from 1905 to 1917 and was purchased in the late 1920s. The forestock has a bit of a schnobble. Pay no attention to the rear sight, it has something added to it.
The rifle cocks on the final push forward of the bolt. The cocking piece has a knurled surface for hand cocking. The barrel is 24" long and quite heavy.
The bolt appears dirty in the picture, but there is no rust and the barrel is excellent, in spite of it "growing up" on corrosive ammunition!
