I recently acquired a 99 takedown in 250-3000 that was supposed to be A+ mechanical condition. The bore looks like new, bright with sharp rifling, however the rifle has a number of issues. Will take them one at a time.
One of the most aggravating is the safety. It slides ahead when the lever is operated, and one cannot fire the rifle until it is slid back into the firing position. Not that a single shot 99 is all bad, but that's not what I was expecting.
At first I thought I was hitting it with my index finger somehow, but now it appears to be that it is just too loose in the slot.
Anyone know an easy fix for this?
Thanks,
Ted
