Do any of you have any experience with this rifle. Looking for an entry level .22LR for rimfire action shooting. I know how popular the Ruger 10 /22 us un the sport. I am looking for info on the Savage. If you have had a bad or good experience let me know and which rifle you moved on to including the Ruger. Right now I am tending towards the Marlin, but this rifle is $100 less and is available.

I have had 3 10/22's in the past and bought my kids a savage a22. The a22 is way more accurate and easier to clean and also has 25 round mags available that work great.'

I have a A22 Precision that will shoot sub MOA with CCI standard velocity. Very easy to clean. Highly recommend.

I have an A22, the heavy barrel version. I am pleasantly surprised by how well it shoots. Not bolt gun accurate but not too bad... The trigger is still pretty heavy when adjusted to its lowest setting, about 2.5#. Never has any FTF or FTE...

The only issue I had with my rifle is that I was getting light primer hits after using dirty Winchester Ammo after shooting over 350 rounds through it. It is very easy to remove the bolt to clean. Check out Sootch 00 review. The plastic stock models are pillar bedded and shoot very well for the cost.

I've had the A22 synthetic 22" blue barrel version. It never FTE or FTF. All day popping rounds out with the stock 10rnd and the butler creek 25rnd mag. Very accurate. I sold it, now I have the A22 BNS-SR version. Same thing, no issues and accurate.

Hi
I have a Savage A22 Pro Varmit , shoots great, fairly accurate 1 1\8'' at 100 yds. with CCI Standard and Aguila Super Extra ''
I SHAKE or it could be better
Likes most brands of ammo. The one fault it has and heard from other A22 owners is the spring roller pin that holds the firing pin sometimes breaks after 1500 rounds, nothing major but a bit of a pain. Replacement pin is 2mm dia X 14mm long.
Good luck and enjoy

I should have asked this earlier. What size of rail should I get for the A22. I want to replace the scope that comes with the rifle (Cabellas A22 $449), with a Vortex Sparc11. I plan to use the gun on local steel matches and Rimfire Challenge matches over in Pr. George. My pal John R. runs great matches over there and they are worth the six hour drive. For those with the gun could you measure the center to center scope mount holes. I am hopping there is some kind of standard screw and mounting widths common for the the after market rails. I am no gunsmith so bare with me. I'll leave the scope on the gun until the spring rolls around then switch to the Sparc.

The A22m from all reports is a pretty solid rifle and should be a decent choice for casual steel shoots, plinking and Alberta gophers when I head to Alberta to see my grandson.

I have a 0 moa mount i maybe selling. I am waiting for my bonus check and will be picking up the A17 varmint, which comes with a 1 piece mount

I am following this thread because I bought a A22 on EE this week. Won't be here until next week.

I have been shooting a Norinco NS-522 a bit and it groups good ammo round 0.50" (50 yrds - 10 shot groups).

Two weeks ago I bought a Ruger target rifle on EE. I was shocked to find that it shot almost as well as my bolt rifle. Groups average around 0.60" at 50 yards.

I will soon post a comparison of the Savage and the Ruger.

My Ruger shoots very well with SK Plus and CCI Stnd Vel. The CCI is quite cheap, so that is a bonus. It also shoots Ely Force almost as well. The Ely Force runs with more recoil energy, so the bolt cycles with more authority. This might be the better choice in a competition.

Just ordered the gun from Cabellas. I ordered the package deal so it comes with the scope. I will order the rail I need From Dominion Outdoors tomorrow. I'll post pics and comment when the gun arrives. I looked at just buying the rifle and then adding the parts and the difference in costs not including extra shipping came out to about $7.00. I'll pick up a 2nd 25 rd mag locally from Cdn. Tire. The combo comes with a 25 rds Butler mag along with the factory 10 rd mag.

don't forget about the $50 mail in rebate.

Yuppers, I will be all over that. Aside from John R's Rimfire Challenge events in Pr. George, locally we have steel shoots and I am sure I will be able to use the gun there. Next up, the S&W Victory pistol. That may be until summer of 21. She who knows best won't likely recover from this purchase until at least June. The ladies see life somewhat differently. Not sure why.......:>) I really should get rid of some of the dusters in my gun safe. On that I have to agree with here. I have a K31 with accompanying reloading dies and a few handguns that may be living in another's home by next spring.
