Thanks Kamlooky , do you know if Savage can import parts yet as I heard that there import licence ran out. I will check with Western Gun parts and see if they have one( never delt with them before)

As of last week,no exporting papers for Savage USA.The warranty shop for Savage is Grech Outdoors in Ont. 519-509-4869,i'm sure they'd be happy to mail you one,if you can't find one locally.

well I've e-mailed 3 different places yesterday and haven't heard back from any of them, tried calling Dave Henry a couple of times but always get busy signal. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

well finally got a hold of Grech and apperrantly I would have to send them my whole rifle to have the spring installed by them. So $100 for shipping both ways and hour of labour so for about $150 I can have a $2.00 spring replaced .What a rip off. I also talked to Western Gun parts and was told that they can't get that spring because it has to be installed by a Savage warrnty depot. Not Impressed at all

Just do what most of us did, Replace that trigger with a Rifle Basix trigger and never look back...

I have a Rifle Basix trigger on it but it still uses the factory safety spring . Both the accutrigger and non accutrigger use the factory safety

I just placed an order with WGP's and was told by them they have a $30 minimum order.
Too bad, I could of got them to toss it on my order and mailed it to you.
Try all the site sponsors that have smithing services.
There has to be one around.

WGP can't even get that spring as it is only available to Savage warranty depots and must be installed by them because everyone else must be to stupid to put a $2.00 spring in a little hole.

R204, as you likely recall the safety spring is a narrow flat spring bent simply into a round cornered "V" shape. I'd be highly surprised if you could not make a very useable replacement from a large size hair pin. If you've lost the pieces or the whole spring I'd be willing to photograph mine so you can use it as a pattern.

Another option would be to buy a suitable thickness cabinet scraper from Lee Valley and carefully cut a long strip off one edge and then bend it to the shape.

The stock spring is .035 thick by .125 wide.

Yes on a regular Savage trigger the spring is what you say but on the accutrigger it is a coil spring that has small diam. on the ends to fit into the holes on each side of the trigger housing and the centre of the spring has a larger diam. to make friction contact with the safety lever.
