Can anyone tell me anything about the Savage Anschutz .22? What are they worth decent shape? Are they the same as an Anschutz?

Savage imported to the United States a number of different Anschutz rifles -- just as CIL imported to Canada different Anschutz rifles. They are Anschutz. What model do you have? Can you post a picture?

Don't know what model it is. It is a single shot. Has a Redfield Olympic peep sight. Here are some pictures.

That looks like a Savage Anschutz Match 64. They were imported from Germany from about 1963 - 1970's? perhaps early '80's. You can find the date as a two-digit stamp on the left side of the barrel by the receiver. This example has receiver (receiver-mounted) sights instead of the rear diopter sight that attaches to the dovetails. The latter are available in different levels of quality, but the better ones are superior to the better receiver-mounted sights. This rifle has an adjustable butt pad. It's impossible to tell from the pictures, but it's likely the rifle has an accessory rail under the forearm.

Value of a Savage Anschutz Match 64 depends on condition of bluing, wood, finish, general wear and tear, and the sights, which, depending on the set, can add hundreds to the value of the rifle with sights. Without sights, the value can be north of $500, depending on condition. It is, after all, an Anschutz.

Thanks. So the receiver mounted diopter sight would have been original on this gun? I'd say the gun is in average condition. Not a lot of abuse, but some marks, a little bluing loss, and some of the screws are a little messed up. Yes, the gun has a filler piece in what appears to be an accessory rail under the forearm.

Is there any place in Canada where I can find inserts for the front sight? There is one large glode, but that is all I got with it.

Pic of the forearm...

I'm looking for inserts for the front sight. I have found some in the US that will mail to Canada. Does anyone know if this would be a Redfield front sight, or an Anschutz? The inserts look the same. Guess I might have to measure and see if the vendor can confirm.

Thanks for the responses and PM's. Lee Shaver Gunsmith website has many inserts listed and dimensions. Using this I have figured out my front sight is a small Redfield, likely a #63 or 64 mounted on a high base.

It's not an Anschutz front sight on this rifle.

It looks like someone removed the accessory rail and filled the space with wood for some reason.
Nice enough rifle, should shoot fairly well with decent ammo.

I ordered sight inserts from Lee Shaver and had them in a week. Made of spring steel, they are thinner than the originals, but will do the job quite well. Looking forward to shooting this thing with some quality ammo.

The Shaver inserts can be stacked on top of each other to give a thicker ring.
The rings were too thin for my liking but stacking allowed for the ring to triple in thickness.
Let us know of the developments.
