Savage B22 precision

Got to shoot at 50 yards today finally. Was a bit rushed so the results could be better if I took more time. Got 15 groups of 5 done, average size was .6 of inch. Best was .27, 2nd and 3rd both .34. Best groups all shot with CCI standard velocity.
Still zero issues with the rifle.

Jesus, can any production rifle do better without some heavy mods? That’s sub-MOA.

If I was taking more time and more focused I think it can do a bit better. Going to try again today hopefully and see if I can improve on it. I was pretty shaky yesterday, and i am going to try with a more stable bipod and rear bag if I can find it.

When it gets over 15C, start reaching out to 100yds and then 200yds. The hotter the temps get, the further out you will have success. Happy to help you with ammo choices.

Savage rimfires can have some great shooting barrels... some of their QC is meh but a bit of TLC and they shine.

They can work very well.... have fun

They happened to have the A22 Precision model at Cabela's when I was there on Saturday. Wow is that slick! For basically the same price as a RPR, it blows the plastic crap RPR out of the water

Got to 50 yards again today. 12 groups of CCI SV 5 shot groups. Average was .52, best group was .24, worst was .74 (would have been .49 but I got excited and pulled it).
Tried some CCI greentag and didn't go well, didn't bother measuring.
For now I am going to continue practicing with CCI SV as I need to improve how I shoot before I start blasting more pricey ammo. I found I was doing better 4 shot groups then lost focus and 5th would go wild. So I need to fix that.
One side note with the CCI greentag, it had a harder time extracting those, I even struggled getting them out with my knife.

I'm very happy wit CCI SV in my mk2. Also same point of impact as SK match. Perfect practice food.

I was shooting mine for the first time today and I was getting failures to extract until I started pulling the bolt back quickly. Seems like I have to do it fast to get the old case out before the next bullet tip pops up and stops it from coming out. Anyone else experience this?

The only failure to extract I got was from CCI greentag, and that seems to be fixed now. I let cleaner sit in the chamber and got a 22 wire brush attached to a drill and gave it a few spins on low power, this got it cleaner and I have had zero issues since. I am not gentle with the bolt though.
I also found letting the mag sit fully loaded for 24 hours made it much easier to use as it loosens the spring up.

Tried at 50 yards again today, wondering if I didn't do a good enough job cleaning or if I was just having an off day as it wasn't grouping as well. Greentag was grouping really well and then it started having extraction issues again and my groups opened up. Everything else is extracting fine, which makes me think I didn't clean well enough.

This rifle continues to make me very happy. 10 shot group under 1/2 inch at 50 yards with CCI SV. Didn't have time to keep going. First time shooting when it was warm out, it was plus 10.
