I'm currently using a cabela's covenant tactical 4-16. It has more than enough zoom for CRPS. It tracks well and is very affordable. Lots of us are using it.
The big thing is the Christmas tree reticle. Its a huge help for fast hold overs.
Best part is they come on sale about 2-3 times a year for $280.
1-2 times a year I see them for $279. I bought mine this spring. If your in a rush, jump on this current promotion. Remember it is a 30mm tube. They have Nikon rings on sale too I believe.

My Savage MK II FV c/w Boyds Stock & Vortex Crossfire 4-12*40 AO. Scope was around $300

My son's Savage B22 FVSR c/w a 3-9*40 Scorpion & Faux Suppressor
If my son would open his wallet and buy a better scope he would out shoot me with his B22.
I think the B22 is a better shooter off the shelf. The B22 has a better stock than the MK II.
Only complaint with the B22 is the finicky loading of the rotary 10 round magazine, but Butler Creek has a 25 round that works in the B22 & A22.
Both rifles like CCI Standard Velocity ammo @ 50 yds, not sure how that will work at extended range.
Just bought the Savage-MOD-B22-VSS-22LR-RJ-Limited-Edition that randyhub mentioned and so far excellent. $500 to the door with extra mag from Prairie Gun Traders. Savage target trigger 12 - 14 oz out of the box. Only scope laying around was a Bushnell Banner that I could not get enough elevation adjustment to go out to fifty meters so didn't bother shooting much but 10 rounds of CCI standard in one inch once I figured roughly were to hold, very happy. Just ordered a BUSHNELL TROPHY XTREME SCOPE 6-24X50MM for $330 and Bushnell has $50 mail in rebate. Looking forward to getting them together and see what I can do.
Why not a used cz varmint

This combo worked nicely for me over the weekend.
For those interested in rimfire PRS, the CRPS matches are a definitely must do. Well run, tons of fun... great folk
For those in BC, there is interest in trying to do club matches on a more regular basis. Will post more details when things finalise.
Tons of fun that will not break the bank...
Jerry
It would bump him into open class
How is it any different then the fvsr? Both are factory guns with heavy barrels
