Savage MK II question

I'm having a custom bolt knob added to a short CZ bolt handle now by Jeff at Grizzly Gun Works.
He's going to lathe turn the existing knob down (not just cut it off) and thread the remaining stump. This will lengthen the handle without having to add a massive knob. Then he'll custom turn a new knob, hard coat it, and thread it on. Can't wait to see his masterpiece!

They are all turned before being cut... otherwise there would not be enough length to thread to mount the knob. What does length have to do with the size of the knob? ... All knob sizes require the same thread length (as long as they clear the stock slot)... Also there is not much point in "reinventing the wheel" (unless you just gotta be different and money is no object) there are many companies selling bolt knobs... Dlask has their own design, Liberty, and Bill's Bolt Knobs etc... You also don't have to be a master craftsman to do one, just a decent machinist or even a home hobbiest... Here are links to a few;
