Hello,
I picked up a Mark II f in January, and I'm wondering if it's normal to get 1 inch groups at 100 yards? I've shot possibly every type of bulk ammo I can find, and none have come close to the amazing CCI Blazer. I'm getting groups of 0.8-2.0 inches. The random flier is what's causing me grief, and I guess it's because I'm not using target ammo. I tried the Eley stuff, and it was alright, but I wouldn't plink with it.
I have a Tasco Varmint 6-24x44 scope installed, with a harris bipod. The adjustable trigger is set to 2lbs, so the break is clean. The bolt on the gun is smooth, better than any other 22 I've encountered other than a CZ.
I'm really curious if I got a good gun, or if they all typically shoot well? I paid only $199.99 for it, $100 for the scope, $15.00 for the mount, and $70 for the bipod. I'm into this thing for only $385 (less than CZ455) and I find it going to the range with me more than any other gun I own.
A few quick questions:
* How often should I clean this? I don't want to destroy my waxy buildup in the rifle but I want to get the carbon fouling out. I'm only pulling a dry patch through every range trip, but I plan on doing 50 strokes with copper brush and hoppes every 3-4 bricks (or when accuracy suffers, whichever comes first).
* Can the bolt be hard cycled like an Enfield? I noticed a bit of wear on the bottom part of the bolt. It's so smooth, it just wants to be beat around.
* Has anyone found ammo that shoots better than Blazer? I tried 16 different types and the only that came close were other CCI brands.
Thanks for the help!
