Finally had a chance yesterday to give the Savage MKIIF (Accutrigger) with 3-9 x 32AO Bushnell Sportview scope, a 100 Meter workout. Bought gun/scope off EE three weeks ago, "used" in great cosmetic condition but with unknown number of shots. From the wear on the bolt blueing, I'd say it's fired a few bricks.
Easily shot 1 inch groups with Winchester Dynapoints, 40 grain plated, unlisted velocity. Based on the muzzle report, they are probably standard velocity. Definitely much lower velocity than Win Expert HV which delivered a loud crack and higher felt recoil, and poor 2.5 - 3 inch groups.
More often than not, I could see the hole print right at the Point of Aim. Any hit outside one inch group was definitely a shooter induced flyer. This Savage shoots slightly better than my CZ452 Varmint or Style.
IMO, a two hundred dollar gun in stock condition, shooting cheap bulk ammo has no right to shoot 1 MOA.
Am I just lucky? Any body else with similar experience?
