I received mine yesterday.
First impression is one of satisfaction with the quality and finish of the rifle. Like some, I think it could use a larger palm swell on the grip area of the stock. Overall though, its a tremendous value for the money. It's also good the Savage put out this sort of "thank you" to LE/Mil folks. No doubt many will end up being sold at some point but because it's somewhat of an exclusive rifle, there is exceptional value as far as someone reselling theirs. Plus it has somewhat of a story behind it that might make it a popular rifle to own.
So far I have installed a Millet 6-24x56 TRS-1 scope on Vortex 6 screw tactical (high) rings, a Harris tilt 6"-9" bipod and a 6 port large diameter muzzle brake purchased off E-Bay. Got it all boresighted and most likely will not have the opportunity to shoot it until a couple weekends from now. Really looking forward to it though!!!
I have a few hundred handloads that are just begging to be disassembled!

Does anyone have both the Savage 10-tr and the rem 700 le of a similar style? If you have used both can you give a side by side comparison as to quality , accuracy, bang for the buck, so to speak? Just wondering seeing as Savage put this out there at a good price for LE/ Military folk to try it and compare! I am sure Savage are thinking they either have a better rifle for the same or cheaper price so I am wondering, do they and why? Cheers.,
Question moved to the Precision forum ,10-TR thread.

Perhaps this thread should be kept for a discussion regarding the sale of the rifle. Technical stuff is being discussed over here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...Savage-10TR-le-military?p=9669184#post9669184

Yep, I posted a pile of pictures and some of my findings in that thread, including a range review, but I’m a noob and I don’t really know what I’m talking about so maybe some of you more experienced shooters could write a more detailed one there.

What's everyone scoping this rifle with?

I got a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50mm mildot reticle. That will make sihlouette targets visible well beyond the effective range of the rifle.
...and gophers will look 6ft tall:D :sniper: G:

The Hornady .308 TAP FPD 110gn bullets literally make gophers explode, which is more humane than poison;)

That depends on how much it takes to break the bank. What's your budget? Most manufacturers offer their scopes in mildot. How much you pay will depend on the features you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. Also, how long is long range for you? You could opt for anything from a fix 10x to a variable 4-16x, 6-20x or any other option.

Anyone know a decent Scope in Mil-dot that wont break the bank that would be good to put on this rifle? ]

looking for something to do longer range shooting with.

I bought a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50mm mildot reticle. MSRP is about $600, and enough zoom for anything in range of a .308 Win.
