I've searched around but I couldn't find many places that sell savage parts in Canada. I'm looking for the PTG bolt body, so I'm just throwing this out there in case somebody knows where I can get one. I know midway usa has some but I'm still waiting to know if they have the paperwork required to ship it here. But any places here that hold upgrades would be nice.

I would also be interested, ordering from them before I think in order for it to be ok, it needs to be under 100$ and I just looked and couldn't find any on the site.

Also did you try emailing them directly to see if they imported stuff like that? They have an option for canadian pricing so I would assume the ability is probably there.

nope...they specifically mention that they wont.

Well I have an e-mail that I got from them 3 weeks ago stating that they can and will ship a bolt head and spiral fluted bolt to me. There e-mail also stated that they can ship any order to Canada as long as it doesn't excede there $500 limit

Ok...no paperwork stuff ?

their site:

"We will not be shipping our bolts out of the USA until the end-customer pays for the proper documentation thru the United States State Department. Midway USA holds all the permits required to purchase Pacific Tool & Gauge, Inc. bolts overseas."

I emailed midway to confirm..but if I can order directly from them...well..all the better.

They used to sell complete bolts, I am pretty sure it bolt parts are excluded.
I wish they didn't stop selling complete bolts. I have a LA with no bolt (long story) I tried to call savage Canada to get a new one. Over 200$ in parts plus I have to ship my "rifle" to the only savage approved gunsmith for them to "fit" the bolt.
Long story short I am quickly going from a huge savage fan to an "I want anything else" type of person.

I think I may have found somewhere in Canada that has them... In Alberta but it will be a couple of days before I hear back from them. I will post here if they turn out to be able to get them.

I think he does normally keep them in stock, I think I got his last in stock one but by the sounds of things he is willing to import more if there is enough of an interest (I think his words, if I remember correctly). dracbec I think you have the wrong thread, we are talking about just replacing the bolt body and not the head, should be one size fits all from my understanding.

PTG sells the bolt bodies in diffrent OD sizes ranging from .6995 to .700 to get the slop out of the action.

Cool, I will keep that in mind. I read on another thread that the standard size most places carry is .7000 also a buddy told me that PTG is ITAR approved and I think it was also mentioned earlier on in this thread. Also a little bit of an update on this...

I have talked to the person that I planned on ordering the bolt body from in Alberta and currently this is the situation:

I emailed inquiring about the part and next day got a response - he put his personal phone number in the email so I phoned him around noon on a sunday and he said he would send info tuesday (remembrance day) which I said was ok it could wait (bad idea).

Never heard back and a week went by, still no word so I sent him an email inquiring again replying to his reply - still no response...

I phoned him last Thursday and gave him my postal code and city to calculate shipping and am still waiting to hear back, he says he is only in the shop Tuesday to Friday but since it's been two weeks and I really haven't gotten any response also kinda what gets me is I am following his page on facebook and I see his facebook post all the time about builds he has done, so I get the feeling that he doesn't want my money.

I'm kinda lost what would you guys do? Do I turn in to an ass and just start pestering him about it, or do I do what I plan on doing and just walk away.

OK just got the answer back from ptg!! It's a go!

Hi there,
Yes you may order up to $500 worth of merchandise without having an
ITAR/Export Permit.
Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Thanks,
Eileen

Hi, I was wondering if I could order the savage SA fluted bolt body directly
from you. I live in Canada and I don't know if this is a regulated item with
restrictions for export/import. Thanks.
