Even if you dumped a dead cougar on the door step of your local MNR office they would insist there is no way to prove it was shot here or that it wasn't shot at a animal sanctuary.
I went through a similar episode with them a few years ago (not cougar related) and came to the conclusion that denying and lying seems to be what they do best.
Where do you guys come up with this stuff?? Just call the MNR office, 1-519-773-9241, they will tell you they exist, they will tell you they are here. What is up with insisting they are trying to deny it? I talk to them frequently about the cougar, it is an open topic and certainly not one that requires a tin foil hat to comprehend. There was a time when there was simply no proof, now that there is (stool sample) they have no issues what-so-ever with saying "YES! THERE IS TRUTH BEHIND ALL THIS".
Just call them and discuss it (you know, the old fashioned way before internet rumors came about) and you may be surprised with what you hear, there is no denial.
I speak with the head biologist, before his desk job (another poke in this thread) he was the head deputy and only worked in the field, good people with a really crappy job in my opinion.
Seems some of you guys thrive on controversy, even though the MNR has openly admitted the existence of this species there are still those who insist on screaming their opinion from under a table in the corner of the room.
Last time, there is no denial...
