Last thurs on the way into my camp. Cow and a calf. The first sighting ever for me. I've seen some tracks quite a few times. But never anything standing in them. Was a nice sight. Just down the road from dumbdawgs and fogduckers place too! Hope it's the start of something more.

Dave.

I'm really surprized it's the first time you've seen them. They've been around there for a long time. Not in big numbers, but still, I think I saw one up that road, maybe twenty or so years back, when we were in there gathering leeks.
There's quite a crop of them out on the main bush road your turns off off.
Any turkeys over your way?

Saw a hen last year ago, and two jakes. Found a few feathers 3 weeks ago. But haven't seen much sign at all. Should be a good area I think eventually. Seen many up your your way Bob?

Dave.

about ten years back.there was a ton of sign of moose in the swamp areas up near us..but ive not seen sign up there in years..
ive heard them a few times..a neighbor just a half hour walk down the road has had them in his yard just a few years ago..
did the ones you saw, seem to be in good health?
but ya what great news to hear of your sighting:D

Reid, Hannah and I got to watch a calf run past the Hotel parking lot in Sundre on Sunday afternoon. What delight the kids had in their eyes. It was priceless. We were only fifty yards away. Hannah started yelling "Come back moosey, I want to see you!" lol

After having to move into town seeing any game at all is a breath of fresh air!

They sure seemed healthy enough to me! They should be. I would think. Probably not a ton of competetion for food up there. I wouldn't think. Now if I guy could draw a tag there. I'll bet we could pull one out! Might be an idea He He!

No group draw in the wmu 60a individual basis only. kinda of crappy. But you never know. A guy I know in burnt river got a bull tag last year. Got a nice bull too! It will be the luck of the draw I guess.

Fogducker, I saw an old moose track, I'm guessing a cow, on the road between your two cabins while I was bow hunting last fall.
A friend of mine just north of you travels Hwy 507 to work every day. She's seen so many moose she doesn't bother taking note anymore. Or that's what she said when I asked her.

Triton, lots of turkeys in the Lindsay area now, just not many spots to hunt that are not already taken. All private land of course.

The locals have taken to it big time.

Well If we could convince some more turkeys to wander over. I've got lots of land we could hunt. Maybe we should have a meeting with some of the toms and see what we could negotiate! LOL.

Dave, start putting the scratch grain out through the winter and spring... their bellies will bring them over...
My buddy has a property that there have never really been turkeys on, but there are some a few concessions over... He started laying the scratchgrain, and corn to them this fall (late) and he's got 7 birds at his place every morning now.
Being a new turkey hunter, we've got him pointed in the right direction. Im going to go out on thursday morning (second day of the season) and try to get him a bird.
Sometimes its as simple as catering to their belly...
