SCAR Where Art Thou ?

Non of you will get the scar. Get over it you gun maniacs (hmm new website).

The sponsors will let everyone know when they can get their deposits back. There's always the bushmaster acr which might make it here.

You can have your Shrubmaster anytime; I'll stick with the SCAR. :) In answer to the above question, I believe no one has yet (FRT has still not been issued).

All i want is a 17 with a 20" barrel, if their's a God please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the key issues that people seem to have with the ACR is that it's over-priced, no chrome-lined barrel, heavier, not combat proven, the recent recall and that only the fixed stock version (apparently) will be available. On the flip-side, there's little to no recoil, it's multi-calibre and the barrel is forged nitride coated (which may last longer and be more accurate). And I have to admit, I'm somewhat of a Magpul whore... ;)

I think they're going to be fairly comparable as next-gen rifles. The SCAR is here pending approval; the ACR is pending review. Barring some reclassification, I don't think it's unrealistic to think we might see the ACR for next Summer (this is just my best WAG).

...and people will buy them regardless. I know I will. It'll be in the safe next to my SCAR...

Honestly, I really hope both of these rifles make it to Canada. I'm a magpul whore myself ;) Would be an issue to have the folding stocks imported? I would really want the folding stock for both rifles.

Don't be holding your breath. Latest intel I have is that the LB version will be canceled due to lack of orders. Now there is an SSR version with a 20" heavy barrel that would likely fit the 17S but getting one would likely be a low probability event.

So yeah, you may just need God's help for your wish.

Yes, they're already in Canada - but they can't be released without an FRT. So we wait... As for any additional SCARs (or different models), unless you pre-ordered/paid for one, I honestly think you're going to be SOL. Questar has indicated that the likelihood of any additional export permits being issued for any type of SCAR is slim-to-none.

After getting conflicting answers from Questar, I emailed FN Herstal directly asking if we would ever be able to get the scars directly from Belgium and bypassing the US crap...here's the response.. Maybe a few more emails to them might show that there is a worthwhile interest from Canadian customers.

Hello Sir,

Thanks for your interest in our products.
To the best of our knowledge, the interdiction has not yet been officially communicated.
Also, questions remain about limitation in time.
Maybe do you have further information.

What I can tell you is that the Canadian market is managed from Belgium and not from the US.
We are currently working on updating our distribution network and in the perspective, the supply of civilian SCAR has been taken into account.
I regretfully can not give you any lead-time for the implementation since it is still at the project stage.

Regards
