SCAR Where Art Thou ?

So the SCAR is still under review for prohibited or restricted classification? The SCAR and XCR are my number one picks for guns I want to buy that can be non-restricted.

I believe that the SCAR's condition has been upgraded by the RCMP.
Right now its my understanding that the prognosis is good. The folks at Questar have been monitoring the SCAR's progress over the last year and a half. Right now we remain "cautiously optimistic".

We realize that once the SCAR is "out of the woods" lots of visits to range, and several hundred hours of "trigger time" are needed to ensure a full recovery. It has been confirmed to me that the SCAR will have no permanent changes once it leaves the RCMP facility, and will be the same as it left the factory.

I think that I can speak for all SCAR owners when I say there was a time we thought we would be getting a refund? However that appears not to be the case.Since there is only one RCMP facility and a handful of technicians, the SCAR's recovery has been nothing short of amazing.

Well I'll try to keep folks updated on the SCAR's recovery.I realize that there are a very few SCAR's in Canada, but once they are released I trust that the gun community will welcome them with "open arms".

At least you have your dream;
I don't have dreams anymore its been so long! You can see by my post that my level of frustration is on a collision course with my patience.
I re-read a few posts and they applied for the FRT # 2009?
I ordered in March 2010, paid in full Sep 2010, its now Mar 2011
Give me a fu*king break!!!

well if it gets prohib or restricted (for other reasons than barrel length) then somebody should challenge it, it should not take YEARS to get an FRT #. and when it does you know something is up. they cant be allowed to get away with this constant shinanigans!

..... The whole RCMP thing really make me sick. I really want to know whether it is possible to find a channel to complain the RCMP for being inefficient. Taking one whole year to decide whether it is restricted or not is total BS. I am sure they are just giving us a hard time, or they are really trying hard to make it prohibited but fail to find a reason. That's all I feel.

You can complain to Vic Toews, who as Minister of Public Safety is responsible for the RCMP classification section. However, compared to Vic the RCMP techs are a model of speed and efficiency, so don't expect a response any time this decade. It's still worth writing just to show you care. (Remember, no stamp required on a letter to an MP.)

I actually think the RCMP classifiers are just trying to follow the law for the most part. The problem is there aren't very many of them and the law is an ass (and that's somewhat of an insult to asses everywhere.)

Your advice is taken. I have just an emailed to Vic. Trust me, The RCMP is not as efficiency as you think.

I've written Toews before. All I get back is a babbling form letter about how it is in the hands of the RCMP. That guy is useless.

Don't worry. This is not the only MP I have contacted. For the previous months I already contacted a few MPs about this issue. I know how useless the MPs are. The RCMP should have my file for 3 months already.

Slightly off topic but funny how your MP has direct access to Citizenship Immigration Canada for passport issues(ie) "I need a passport now" where in this case it appears there is no access? Go figure?

I was surprised at how little time there is between (semi-auto) shots in some of the videos because there seems to be almost no felt recoil. I wonder if this is why the RCMP is being obstructionist?

Never mind. It's just that I was marvelling at how fast you can shoot that gun. I certainly can't shoot that fast with my .308 M14. How fast you can shoot seems to be a concern for them, otherwise there would be no full-auto ban, and by the way I don't see you guys advancing a better theory.

That's because it's a .308; it's easier to shoot faster with .223 (less recoil, smaller round, etc.)
