SCAR Where Art Thou ?

Is the current theory that the government is waiting for the import paperwork to expire so as to make the whole application moot?

Nope... the US export permit expired a long time ago... but that doesn't change the fact that @ 40 of these guns are already sitting here in Canada and submitted for registration certificates.

Now that the Bushmaster ACR has been "approved" as semi-auto non-restricted/restricted based on barrel length, there is little left in the way for the SCAR to be classified the same way.

Hopefully this will finally happen soon.

Last I heard (yesterday) the RCMP Lab is encouraging importers to hold off on new imports until the fall, when they expect the prohib list to be "updated" to reflect new models.

Call your MPs and make sure this does not happen.

New stuff on the prohibited list? Rage = whole new level.

My MP will definitely hear some choice words. Unfortunately, she's NDP and my comments will fall on deaf ears. But they shall be made none the less.

Hey canam, is there any verifiable info on this? I want to be sure I have sound info when sending letters to my MP, toews and Harper. This is unacceptable.

Wow, I can't imagine owning a $4k SCAR and not being able to shoot it because it's prohib. You'd never be able to sell it either, at least in this country.

I suppose you could call the lab and ask. Speak to one of the managers, Murray, if you can reach him (He is often out testifying for the crown at reference hearings, etc), or Bill (hello ;)).
I heard it from another dealer who was trying to get some FRTs sorted out yesterday. I hear the same thing from many sources. The fact the RCMP want the list updated is no shock and is often stated in their briefing reports to the minister. We have all but given up submitting new guns since the last one was submitted in April 2010 has still not been issued an FRT, nor can we even get an answer out of the lab as to when we can expect it.

I can't believe people are actually shocked about this news. The writing has been on the wall for a long time for those that wanted to see it. Be prepared for #### to fly regarding non-restricteds as well.

You sound "cautiously optimistic"?
However I could use some good news

I was thinking it was all talk. If Harper lets this fly, he'll most definitely lose a lot of support from all gun owners.

New models of guns already on the list, or new guns added to the list?
