Scar?

To answer your question there is a designated marksman SCAR with a 20" barrel, and swapping barrels in the field was one of the requirements for the gun, so I can assume you can easily rebarrel it or buy the 20" version from the factory whenever they become available.

For the 16 or the 17? The SCAR 17 has an LB version that has a 20" barrel and this should fit on the 17S when ever that appears. The 16 has an LB version but the barrel is only 18" and although it will likely fit on the 16S it would still be restricted by 1/2 inch.

Mr. Smitty,

All of us at CGN are here for you. We know how hard it is when your fingers finally give out and you start typing with your elbows. But there is hope. With courage and therapy we know that you will soon be back to coherent posts on CGN. But you have to admit your problem first and decide for yourself that you want to change. Take the first step. For the children man. For the children.

Offend? Nah, just wanted to know what substance you were on and where we could find some. :p

Far from offended, but I am disappointed that nobody grabbed that classic line to use as a sigline.:p

FN came out with the Mk17 LB for some foreign customers.

FN has been showning a Mk17 SSR with a longer rail, and a pretty cool trigger pack (compared to the crappy Mk16 and Mk17 triggers) and a longer rail.

However given the recent lack of love in USSOCOM for the SCAR family, you may be able to find the SSR and LB versions on the civilian market.

I apologize for my poor behaviour on this thread from a week ago. To any I offended I am sorry.

I believe I should be thanking you actually.

Your post, and the subsequent reactions induced an incapacitating laughing fit whereas I couldn't breathe, only producing choking noises...

...a co-worker rushed in wide eyed repeatedly yelling (with much flying spittle) "HEIMLICH...!?!??!" (about 7x)

That didn't help the situation either....

Thank you!

No need to apologize. That post was by far one of the best ever on this site. You now have your own legend.

So now that the SOCOM has dropped the SCAR is anyone gonna want it? :D

FN is not playing their cards right with the US mil right now, heaven knows why...

Interesting how the ACR pricetag grew like it did... I smell big money for Remington Military.

I'd be more inclined to buy a 16" or 18" SCAR if they offered them with a longer fore end/handguard; that much exposed barrel is a crime against eyes.

As for the ACR, I'm a little uncomfortable with the idea of buying anything that says "Bushmaster" on it... and they're asking a lot of money for even the basic version. I'm worried someone will import them with pinned/welded flash hiders or something equally ghey and they'll be crap forever. :(

I'd be pretty shocked if the ACRs weren't all made to the same standard. It would be pretty bad juju to produce this gun with anything less then a high standard of quality control. They have an awful lot riding on this one.

BTW I like the SCAR, in case anyone thought I was flaming it.
