School me on SKS’s

I have the same mount lined up - how was removing the pin for the old sight?
On my FT the rear sight leaf was pinned and I broke two 1/16 punches while trying to drive the pin out. After that I had to carefully dremel the pin out, and then removing rear leaf was as easy as on a non-pinned SKS.

After shouldering the SKS more than a few times I think the length of pull is too short for me . Have any of you added a pull on rubber pad to increase length of pull ?
If so what one did you go with ?
Thanks
I purchased the Limbsaver Airtech slip on which I bought off Amazon.
I put it on sometimes, not always when shooting, and take it off when stored, don’t want it to screw up the finish on the stock.

They are too short for almost everyone, but it makes them easy to handle if you're wearing bulky winter clothes. I'm planning on designing and 3d printing one when I get a chance, but that may be a while at the rate I'm going.

UTG recoil pad (sadly, out of stock): https://www.westernmetal.ca/product/utg-1-sks-butt-pad-screw-attachment-a-rb-skbtp01a/

PS - Here are some Tapco mags - http s://www.gxxpost.ca/firearm-components-accessories-tools/magazines-clips/oakville-halton-region/tapco-sks-762x39
I don't know the seller, just looked on GP.
Later . . . eidt, I thought the 'space' would let this go thru - OK now

For those of you that have taken your SKS apart right down to removing it from the wood stock for cleaning have you noticed a decease in accuracy ?
As it has been mentioned that it helps for accuracy to have a very tight fitting rifle in the stock .

Yes I know this rifle is not know for accuracy as mentioned in prior posts but will it get worse the more times you totally disassemble it ?

I have had my SKS totally apart several times, and the stock is still very snug. Once I had it zeroed, it has been pretty accurate (when I do my job), but I am pretty careful when taking it apart. I shoot corrosive ammo, and pouring hot water down the barrel wouldn’t be any good for the stock so I strip it down fully.

It is not known for accuracy precisely because few people care to put work into fitting the stock properly, whereas Garand and M14 owners put great care into that. The SKS is similarly finicky to fit, and will reward you for giving it the care that an armorer would have provided.

What would you suggest ? Have a good Gunsmith bed the rifle etc.
Thank You

My best shooter was a Chi-com that had a very loose stock. Try yours first before doing any mods. Remember to extend the bayonet, most people find they shoot best with it extended.

I agree, have shot about 500 rounds with my SKS, last time out I extended the bayonet, and seems it makes a difference. Don’t know how or why but my groupings got better and I was hitting target cans more frequently with the bayonet out, go figure.
If you are shooting corrosive ammo, it needs to be cleaned as well.
