Bought this little gem off Tradex several months ago, the trigger has a long take up and crisp break might be 1lb-2lb. Today as I haven't punched paper in a long time I was trying out the old eyes and peeps. Ran off a box of Seller & Bellot holding 1.5" +/- and thought I'd try some Eley Subs ahead of chow and well target #2 made me stop.

It's a pretty little gun and too heavy to lug around but will make a heck of a trainer one day.

Shame I have to go work now, and yes I put 5 onto each. <yes I had to brag>

I checked your comments and the targets for yardage.
You will find some targets for 50 and 100 yards on this site.
WARNING: shooting target sights can become addictive.
You might want to try some higher quality ammunition. Don't worry about the cost . . . it lasts longer firing single shot!

What's the general consensus on the accuracy potential of the S&L rimfires? Can they keep up with the Anschutzes and Walthers?

Years ago, I owned a number of S&L hunting rifles (M65DLs and M68DLs in 7X61 S&H; 308 Norma; 358 Norma) and found them to be really solid, beautifully-made rifles. My only problem with them was the rear locking-lug design that reduced the number of reloads I could get--with the inevitable case-stretching. The small ejection port occasionally resulted in failure to eject cleanly, but, from a quality-of-build perspective, they were wonderful rifles.

I love my M77! I've only shot it recently(new to me) with mostly CCI SV @ 25yrds. Its a shooter & keeper....

johNTO, that's a really nice rifle. And obviously a great shooter as well. Almost no reduction in the barrel diameter at the receiver, and the ejector is in the bolt face. No provision for scope mounting, but it could always be d&t. How is the trigger?

Is that right? If you look inside the bolt face, there appears to be a plunger-type ejector on the left side of the bolt face. The extractor is visible on the right side.

You are mistaking the firing pin for the ejector, it is on the left side of the bolt, not at the top as in most rimfires.

As stated previously by Third Defect, these rifles do not employ an ejector.

So what looks like something protruding on the left side of the bolt face is the firing-pin or firing-pin hole (couldn't very well be the firing pin with the bolt cocked as it is in that picture--unless this action cocks on closing)? Does this mean that you have to fumble around with your fingers in the loading port to get a fired case out? True of the M70s as well?

#### on closing, opening bolt will extract fired brass, pick it up and put it in the trash.

How is the trigger on this model? Single-stage? Is it adjustable?

M70 has a basic non-adjustable 2 stage trigger that can be set to single stage via a long screw.
M77 has a fully adjustable 2 stage trigger.
Both are excellent 2 stage triggers though.

Interesting. A departure from most bolt rifles.

Here is a bunch of info on the rifles, pics of everything, bolt is a very simple design. The rifle was used by Dane and Swede target shooting clubs for many decades, the design dates back to the 1920's and has changed very little. They were only replaced in the 80's/90's with Anschutz rifles.
