Farmerbob, yes it is very possible. As I understand it many scopes that are built to withstand magnum rifle recoil, will not handle magnum springer recoil because the springer produces recoil in the opposite direction of a firearm and some reticles are not designed to withstand a strong force in this direction. Lots of stories of rifle scopes packing it in in short order. You need to know whether a scope is airgun "springer" rated. Some heavy magnum springers (ie. RWS 350) will even eat some of these scopes.
Little new to the magnum springer airgun stuff.
Is it possible that a centerfire rifle scope that I'd happily put on my SKS or even my 12 guage deer slug gun could be ruined by a magnum springer?![]()
I don't think those Centerpoints are air gun rated. As previous posters have mentioned, "Shock - Proof" for a rifle (particularly a .22) is not necessarily OK for a springer because of the direction of the recoil.
