So I ordered a Norinco NS-522 from CanadaAmmo during their fall clearance sale and will be receiving the gun tomorrow. In the mean time I have been doing some research on what scope I should put on it.

My requirements for a scope are as follows:
  • Parallax adjustment down to 25 yards
  • Magnification out to at least 12x, preferably 16x
  • fine reticule
  • under $500

One brand of scopes that I have found that meet these requirements is Millet. Particualary the Buck Gold 4-16x50, TRS-1 4-16x50, and the LRS-1 6-25x56.

I was wondering if any of you have had experience with this brand or if you had any recommendations.

I dont know much about the Millet scopes, but I have Sightron SII 6-24 x 44 on two of my rimfires, excellent scopes with all the features you are looking for, and if you keep your eyes open you can probably find one on the EE for near the 500$ mark.

I put an inexpensive Vortex crossfire 6-18x44 on mine, spec say 1/4" adjustments and paralax down the 15 yards. Its worked pretty good for me for less then 1/2 your budget. I can see fairly decently out to 300 at our range.

That is another scope I am looking at, well the crossfire II edition. I still need to go out and take a look at it.

I just got my NS522 today and spent 3 1/2 hours cleaning it. I was going slow, but it looks nice. Next week I plan on pillar bedding it, got all the materials but the epoxy currently.

Yes, sorry mine is a crossfire 2 also.
here's a bit of reading for you.

Great thread, and this is good info too, I am just wondering where Father is lately, I have 3 "egg rolls" coming and require the source of his springs, plus more updates on his and others mods!

My trigger spring came from the dollar store in the ladies hair clip isle... pretty sure other people there thought I was crazy about how excited I was to see a whole isle of trigger springs to try out in plastic hair clip things for about $0.10 each LOL.

it has held up with very similar tension for months now (very light, I don't have a measuring device) I did modify it a bit and take any sharp edges off the lead edge

get yourself a speedy sharp when they are in the flyer for $6.99!! they are a carbide sharpener that are the exact diameter of the spot that the trigger spring rides in, you can clean it up real smooth and easy if you want to!

Oh man, I was at CTC tonight, but will likely be there tomorrow too!

I got myself some 2 inch safety pins, which I am going to attempt to make a new trigger spring from, didn't take apart the trigger assembly yet, just sprayed it with brake cleaner to clean it up.

Millet scopes are huge, like bigger then the gun huge.....also they are not high quality at all, made in China....
I know it's going on a Chinese gun...but look at Japanese or Philippines made at minimum.

Demoed a Vortex Crossfire II 6-18x44 today and it is probably what I am going to buy. Just going to wait for any sales now as I am in no rush to purchase until the new year.

If you get the Vortex, get the BDC reticle, its a lot finer then the others they offer.

I put a Bushnell Legend 5-15x40 on mine. Adjustable objective - 10yds to infinity Milldot reticle
$180 plus tax and shipping.

Just got a new scope for it and it came with two sets of rings. One high and one low and they don't fit on the rail. Big bummer.

I ended putting on a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-18x42mm Illuminated mil dot for $169.99. Demoed it in store and fit my criteria, seems to get decent reviews as well.

Will let you guys know how it performs.

Guess I should mention it does have an adjustable objective from 15 yards to infinity.
