Thinking about a scoped rifle, most likely a CZ 452 .22lr. I'd be shooting in an indoor range, at 20yrds. What is a good scope for this? Does a gunsmith need to install it, and sight it in?

Less than the cost of the rifle, $500, preferably no more than half, if that's not too unreasonable. A co-worker who is a hunter said to look for Leupold, or maybe Bushnell Elite?

I have a Weaver Classic Rimfire 4X on my 22. They go for about $200 or so, but they are just about perfect for 22s in my opinion. It sounds like you are shooting at a fairly short distance, so a scope designed for 22s is probably better than a scope designed for centerfires. Scopes are easy to mount, no need for a gunsmith unless your rifle isn't drilled and tapped for scope rings / bases.

Is an Adjustable Objective lense a feature I should look for? I'll be shooting at 20yrds and non-adjustable models seem to be fixed at 50 - 100yrds for parallax.

Dont know if you actually need a scope at 20 y - most people would use a peep sight to advantage. At that distance pretty well anything will do. I'd be tempted to buy a 1in low power centrefire scope - you can use it for other applications if needed. AO is not needed - parallax error at 20 m should be negligeable.
Its easy to install a scope yourself - get a buddy to help you at the range.

You may also want to get rings that allow you to adjust for windage and elevation. I put a set of those on my brno 22 and I was able to roughly dial it in with them first and then fine tune it with the scope knobs. Worked great. I wouldn't trust the rings on anything larger than a 22 though.

I also put on a cheap ($80) 2.5 - 10 Tasco varmint scope with AO on the rifle. Not fance or flashy, but once set up I cut a fly in half at 50 yards (on purpose and everything). This set up let's me march out to 100 yards with no problem.

I found with the Brno and CZ they tend to like the cheap Federal ammo. 38 gr HP. I bought some $$$ ammo one time and it didn't do much. Could be just me though.

That Tasco also has t-knobs and the AO will dial down to 7.5 yards. I put one on a beater .243 and use it for a truck gun, it gets beat around pretty good but has'nt lost -0- in three months.

For a .22 rimfire you can't go wrong with a weaver 4X. Good price for an excellent scope. Just don't put it on anything with harsh recoil.
