I was out today to Selkirk G.& F. I took a few of my winnies and shot them for the first time. I had along with me the 1964 m94 winnie 30-30 with the 4x side mount scope. At 100 yards, it performed as it should and it takes the guess work out of where to hit the prey, you can actually see it.. Open sights at 100 can be frustrating if one has glasses or poor vision ( and does not want to admit it).. thus a visual aid is one's own preference and I will not put down what one uses over the other...what ever fits......the end result is wanting a well placed shot and a short ending to a hunt.
