Picked up a CZ452 Varmint 22wmr from another Nuter (thanks Steve) and it came with a DIP rail. I need to get rings to mount a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42. Anyone have any suggestions on what 30mm rings to look at to get it mounted as low as possible?

Burris Signature Zees get my vote. Allow you to easily cant the scope up to +/- 20 MOA, and won't ever leave ring marks. I use them on everything.

Thanks,
Cal.

That's what I would start with....Not sure about what height to recommend as I don't use a DIP rail (I use j&p) and only have CZs with sporter barrels. If you end up with a slight interference between the bolt and the eye piece or between the objective and the barrel you can use the offset inserts to elevate the scope by another 0.020 +/-.

The 30 mm Burris only go + - 10. No other inserts as far as I know.

I have cleared the eye piece on one of my CZs by installing the front offset ring as "-0.010"(lower) and the rear one as "+0.010 (higher). I ended up with about 0.020 of additional clearance between the bolt and the eye piece.

Glad you like the rifle! I just bought a 2.5-16x42 Elite Tactical of the EE, should be the same dimensions as the 6500?? I can pop it off my 64MPR and put it on my 452 American and see what the barrel/scope gap is like and that can give you a reference for the heavier barrel. I know on my MPR with a DIP rail and Vortex low 30mm rings, I have a fairly large gap ~5mm.

Ahh, you beat me to that scope. :) I think they are identical other than the turrets.

That would be great. I'm hoping to use a mid-range rings (price wise), but keep it mounted as low as possible.

You're going to have a very hard time finding 30mm rings that will get the scope low enough, especially if you want something reasonably priced. For some reason no one makes low 30mm rings under $100.

If I were you I'd ditch the rail if you want to be as low as possible... then you'll still have only a few options.

I finally got some Burris Signature Zee 30mm medium rings to mount my Bushnell Elite 2.5-16x42 on the DIP rail. Tried some other rings, but these seem to fit the best and mount the scope as low as I can hope for. The bolt has a couple mm of clearance. I had to slide the mounts and the scope all the way forward to get comfortable eye relief. I'm tall, and could really use a longer lop stock. I'll see how it shoots and maybe look at adding some spacers to the butt.
