Scope Shopping Fatigue

'been shopping for scopes, and been chasing my tail.

New 300 WM in house that needs glass. Primary hunting rig, 400-500 yard max range. Duplex reticle was the plan, not interested in busy cluttered bullet drops or excessive hash marks. Thinking 4-16ish magnification range (need more than 3-9). Must have a 30mm tube, and was thinking more than 40mm objective. Price in the sub 1.5K range?

What does the CGN knowledge bank suggest?

Last time I checked the Swaro Z5 had a 1 inch tube.

Leupold VX-5HD 3-15X44

Zeiss Conquest V4 4-16x44 (do your research on this option, I've heard mixed reviews)

Meopta Meostar R1 3-12x56 (no parallax adjustment) or 4-16x44

Delta Titanium 2.5-15x56 (heavy)

with 30 mm rings - Leupold VX-5HD but it is right at your price point
if the smaller rings are okay, definitely the Swarovski but the Z3 4-12x 50 may also suit your purpose and be under your budget. The Z5 is beautiful but just outside of your price range

Another vote for the VX 5HD. I have a Firedot, very impressed. Lightweight, free custom dial, what more could you want. Slightly over the $1500 mark but you won’t regret it

Maybe see with GBT if they can get more Minox ze5.2 in 3-15x56. They were an amazing value and within your budget.

Not too keen on Meopta here. Two sheep hunters bought the exact same Meopta brand scope for up and down mountain hunts.
Both eyepieces unscrewed themselves during thier one week hunt.

Good feed back, keep it coming. I was initially looking at the Leupold. SFP is where I think I need to be.

Myself I tend to prefer Leupold on hunting rifles and NF on target rifles. But I have one NF on a called in varmint rifle. This one example is probably an overindulgence.

All 1 inch tubes but the clarity and field of view are amazing and the balance is significantly nicer than a 30mm tube.

That said, Ellwood Epps has a couple used Swarovski Habicht with 30mm tubes on their listing. Too high for a used scope but still nice optics.

Take a look at SWFA... Google it.

They have the best search engine on their web site of anyone on the web.

They have a wide selection of scopes and you can sort by a wide variety of parameters.

In Canada, you probably cannot buy much directly from them, but you can use the site to narrow your search.

Any dealers reading this thread should replicate such functionality on their web sites. Especially Hirsch OMG... please help us. We love you guys, but the web site needs help.
