Good to see we all got back on track
I glad to see someone had more guts than I to D&T there Merkle, and it worked out!
When I ordered my model 240 SXS Cape gun ,mount with Leopold scope mounted by factory, a $3500 option!!!!!!
And there is no real worries about regulating a rifle and shotgun barrel!
But tell the truth, did the first hole drilled hurt?
Great thread, now to make plans for my new Talley Style mount!
Cheers Dale Z
There was certainly some trepidation and hesitation but I finally grabbed the mill handle and pulled 'er down until the bit started to cut, and then she was "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" I thought the worst that could happen would be 4 #8 screw fillers in the rib and that wouldn't look that bad.........really.
... And Hoyt must giggle seeing a piece designed for an H&R resting atop a Merkel!
Someone should send the link to this thread to Talley.
This is a great thread and I love the Talley/Merkel setup. I've toyed with buying a Merkel double, to tell the truth, one of the things that has kept me away was the optic mounts. Sounds funny, but I just don't understand how a company can build a solid/accurate/dependable double rifle for 6000$, but need to charge 1500 for a scope base/ring combo. Just doesn't seem right
And, according to Wolverine, there is still some machine work and gunsmithing which will probably be necessary as well. That's what I said... you need to read back...
Well that's just me and my ultra-short attention span - no patience to read the lead-in, let's get straight to the end. I should have known someone on here would be better read than I - and faster on the uptake!!!
I don't have the patience to read long threads either...
But, that impatience has resulted in my posting some redundant and assinine things...
