Scout mount on Marlin 1895 GS, suggestions please

I got mine from Numrich. The finish was ok, not great, and it took a little tinkering with the dremel to make it fit. Overall I am happy with it for the price.

Search for "rifleman lever" on their site.

Good choice, I had the same setup on a guide gun I owned a few yearsr back and it was great. You'll like it!

I just installed the long XS rail which comes with a front sight and a ghost ring rear sight. I plan on using my Leupold 1.5X5X20 on QD rings on it for when I want to be a marksman...

By the way I bought the rail from Brownell's a month ago when it was on sale for $100, thus not requiring an export permit, haha!

Does your 1.5x5x20 have enough eye relief to be mounted in a scout position or perhaps a bit more rearward but still well forward of the back of the receiver? I like my 1.5x5x20 because of the wider FOV (63' at 100 yards @ 1.5x) than most scout (22' at 100 yds) scopes.

Is there anybody in Canada carrying the XS scout rails?. After handling my buddies SBL,
I want one. Iam Sorry for the hijack too, But it seems hard to find any of this stuff in
Canada.

I have not mounted it yet, but I "fake" mounted it and in a central position I can still use the scope and it does not interfere with the rear ghost ring sight.

Thanks a lot for doing that! I'm going to pull my 1.5x5x20 off my BRNO 602 and try it on the GG! So the setup to start will be the XS scout mount with Burris Zee QD rings with my Leupold 1.5x5x20 in a central position on the rail mount.

I got the Lever Rail for the Marlin 1895 from Brownells that comes with the peep sight and allows for either a conventional scope mounting or for mounting a long eye relief scope (i.e. scout mount) The XS part number is 29-2252A-095-1 and the separate front sight part number is ML-0018-5. I placed two separate orders, one for the Lever Rail and one for the front sight in order to keep the order value under $100.

I'm pretty sure the rings wont be the problem. I think we are talking about a different XS mount... You have the scout one which sits pretty far up the rifle. I have the long rail with the built in sight, it covers all the receiver, so I can mount a scope pretty close to the peep itself.

Thanks TS. I just got home and tried my 1.5x5x20 and while at 1.5x there is enough eyerelief and exit pupil, anything more than that and I have to really search for the FOV.

I'll try to find an EER scope in the lower mainland.

I have some Burris Zee QD rings coming this week. Do I have to lap them? I don't have any gear for doing this.

Glad you found what you needed before the season starts!

I'll have it all together this week and will sight it in as well. The bad news is I have to go back to Central America on Sept. 7 !!!!!!!!

I installed the XS Scout mount. It was very easy and didn't require any special tools. Just waiting for the new QD rings to arrive and then it's off to the range.

I have a couple of boxes of the 1st gen Leverevolution 325 gr 1850 fps ammo and 4 boxes of the newer 2050 fps ammo as well. I'll chrony both as I sight it in to see what velocities I get from the short GG barrel.

The Leupy FXII 2.5x28 scope has a warning that the rear ring has to be at least 3/4" forward of the front of the occular bell. This shouldn't be a problem on the scout mount. Does this rear ring placement apply to other Leupy scopes as well eg VariX 1.5x5x20?
