So like the title says I know its not precision but this is suppossed to be the all around rifle from hunting, defence, sniping, SHFT and battle rifle. This sounds like something that would fit me well.
So that being said this could probably fit in different forums know but thought I would try here. Anyone have one what brand and what do you think of them.

Thanks

The RFB does pretty well in all those roles. Love mine, reliable, pretty accurate, short and manuverable. My modern Hunter would also fit the bill but at a much longer OAL, lose some mobility but gain accuracy and 10rd mags.

like and m14 or m1a1? those things are not cheap But that I would love to can't justify that spending though I see the savage/ruger has a good priced one and also the mossberg scout. One draw back back would be lead down range compared to the m1a1. Other than not having a semi auto I am beginning to really like these rifles

I recently picked up a Savage model 11 Scout. 10 round mag, iron sights. It's a neat rifle. I plan on taking it moose hunting this fall. Got a good price from local dealer too. Pm me if you have any more questions.

Google the Scout Rifle Study by Richard Mann. It's a free online book loaded with information about the scout rifle concept...

Mine's different from any other i've seen

Steyr scout in Mud, ..243 win , with steyr cartridge carrier, steyr ching sling and a bushnell elite handgun scope....

would like to switch the scope out to a leupy at some point though

I went with the Norinco M305, added the M14.ca scout handguard and switch my Aimpoint PRO back and forth between my AR and this. I guess I'd consider it scout "inspired". Stock low mount gives you a good 1/3 co-witness and still allows for a comfortable cheek weld.

Will definitely look this up.

I have been looking at the moss berg and savage myself, so far. I have been watching lots of videos on the scout rifle and the savage comes up a lot. not to much on you tube about the moss berg but when I google it it seems to be in the top 5. The set up you guys have mentioned so far sound pretty interesting! Have you found it fits your many roles/uses or would fit . I always seem to be looking for a different firearm for different purpose so why not get one for all. Even thought the rounds wouldn't be cheap for plinking lol.

I am supporter of scout rifle idea , but accuracy is very important so semi auto is not ideal .
I end up with Tikka battue in 308 win. the only minus was mag capacity so I installed Atlasworx DMB for 10 rd mag. It's very accurate (as all tikkas) and reliable.

I have a Mossberg MVP Patrol rifle in .223 - uses AR mags. Very compact, light weight and accurate. has a scope rail and A2 style flash disperser. I really like it. In fact, I have placed an order for the 7.62x51 version as well.

Got a Ruger Gunsite Scout in .308. Put a full length XS rail on it, and now run it with a Trijicon 1-4 scope (I don't like Scout Scopes, and the Trijicon is light and never needs batteries). It's absolutely reliable, shoots even the crappiest surplus ammo reasonably accurately. It's not a "five rounds in one hole at 100m" type rifle but it's definitely accurate enough to hit a critter out to 400m or more. I can get 1.0 to 1.5 MOA consistently with my handloads (can't remember the exact recipe, it's written down but I don't have that paper with me at the moment, but it's 168 gr Hornady BTHP).

Only complaint would be that the plastic mags Ruger sells only permit a cartridge overall length that's a bit short for the chamber if you want to set overall cartridge length to maximize precision. The metal mag is long enough though, but it's a bit heavier.

Really great guys the more post come in the more interested I am. I often thought about AR or Sks or some other type of semi auto platform for plinking around and accessories. But with our laws and being in the military and moving around I already get to play with these types with full mags I can't really justify yet, to put a lot of money down for these types, with the restrictions we have.

I am currently big into black powder but the new one I want is becoming noticeable of availability of ammo and such. So don't know if I will purchase, that's when I saw a video on the scout and my interest began
Thanks for the responses and pics so far
