scoutguard cams

From what I can dig up, the scoutguard and the Bushnell Trophy cam are almost identical except for the shell and the fact the Bushnell does not need the plug in remote to operate it. So maybe the bushnell will be easier to find.

I have heard mixed reviews on the bushnell my friend uses one and I'm not impressed with the night time pics my old D-40 with a flash takes better pics.

I've read some very good reviews for these cams, but I'm waiting for "Chasingame" to release the review of the UWAY NT50IR...supposed to be "THE" cam to get.

LOL my buddies wife asked me to find one for his B-day which is this coming week. So I cannot wait out for the NT50. I am hoping someone who has dealt with "Trail 'n Security Cameras" out in Sask. can give me some positive fee back on their service so I can order a Scoutguard from them. For the money, this cam seems to be a good deal, but it seems only these guys sell them in Canada.

I know this "Trail 'n Security Cameras" place is a dealer on the "huntingbc.ca" site, so maybe someone who belongs to that forum can
key in on this for me.

They are second to none to deal with!! I had a small probably that I couldn't figure out and they went above and beyond helping me through it as I am old school and not up to date with the new techhi stuff. If you do a search you should find some info as they came highly recommended to me. I have two of these now and just waiting for the reveiw on the Uway. I will be buying another camera and it will either be a Scoutguard or a Uway and it will come from Trail & Security HCO!!

If you pm me I will send you copies of my emails to and from them.

Great to hear Wayne, I will be contacting them. Thanks!

Your friend is using an older Bushy, or is it the newer Bushnell TROPHY cams ??

I have heard the same of the old version. As you know I have the new version and have so far gathered tonnes of night pics that have worked just fine and are pretty clear for having no flash.

Been really happy with it so far

the Bushnell Trail Scout cameras were JUNK. If you find one that still works, it likely takes poor photos (Like mine does). The new Trophy Cam seems to be a great unit.

Mine has worked great since about last September/October. Has taken about 350 pics so far. The only time it didn't work very good or was slow was when it was very cold, I am thinking about -15 or so and below is when it is slow and lots of the time doesn't work at all. We had a good stretch of about -25 to -30 and no pictures were taken during that time but tracks were all over. I changed batteries to lithium's a few months back and it seems to work a bit better in the cold. About 200 pics on those batteries so far and they are still at full capacity.

Since then it has been working good again as we have had pretty decent weather(nothing extremely cold).

There should be a rule that you guys who have deer with RACKs like that SHOULD not be able to post pics for the rest of us to see :p:p:D .

As I mentioned before, from what I have read, the new Bushy ( not the older POS) have the same internals, and if I remember correctly, are made by the same manufacturer. If this is true, I would go with the Bushnell, and not have that extra remote to carry around that the Scoutguard has.

Th trailnsecuritycameras site seems to be place. I think you find will them on Amazon and Ebay as well.

A guy on Ontario Trophy bucks has one or two and posted nice pics, I like the fact that it uses AA batteries and does so at an efficient rate, its very compact and has plug in remote viewer which can be handy. I thought my Moultrie D-40 was pretty good for the money I spent....a Bear pushed in the white lens / sensor thing so Ill have think about an enclosure for whatever camera I buy this year.

I decided on the Bushnell one. Its supposed to be the same inards as the Scoutguard one, and I found one locally.

Its supposed to be the same as the Bushnell, except the Bushnell does not need that separate remote control/programmer, which to me is just something to get lost or broken.

After picking up the Bushnell for my buddies wife, and seeing how well it works, I picked one up for myself. Its far better than the Moultrie I40 I have been using for the last few years and cost less. Trigger times are way faster, there are way more settings, and most of all it makes Zero sound, where as with my Moultrie you can hear it take the picture. The only thing my Moultrie does better is night pics. The IR-Flash is stronger on the Moultrie, other than that the Bushnell is plain better, and wayyyyy smaller.

You will be happy with your cam if these two cameras are indeed the same as they say it is.
