This'll be my first post here on this geat site, so go easy on me!

Basically, I am relatively new to the gun world, and am looking for a nice rifle for hunting use. I own the usual .22, a couple 12 ga's, and a no. 4 Mk.1, but I want a good new rifle for precision stuff. What I'd like:

-Left-hand bolt action
-.308 Win.
-Stainless Steel
-24" max barrel
-Synthetic stock

This is seemingly impossible for me to track down. Am I being too damned picky, or not searching hard enough?

:welcome:

Too picky? Not at all. Everyone has their own personal needs and wants in a rifle. Half the fun is trying out a bunch of stuff until you find your 'perfect' combination.

Problem is, you tend to catch this 'Gunnut disease' and then you keep adding to that list of what you 'need'.:D

You may eventually decide to do a custom build through a gunsmith, which is pricey, but you get exactly what you want.

Good luck!

Look into Savage, just not sure about yourt .308 98 Cal with the new ones. .They are not that expensive and of the four calibres that hasve cgone through my self, all have shot very well....

Savage and Tikka are both known for excellent out of the box accuracy. Tikka guarantees it. Not sure if Savage does. I was originally interested in the Savage for my first rifle but opted for the Tikka T3 lite S/S. I found the Tikka action to be much smoother, overall fit and finish is better and the stock is waaay better than the Savage synthetic stock. Welcome aboard!

Wow, that savage appears to be a nice rifle too! It appears its time to call around for pricing! Thanks guys!

I went to a local shop today, and they had one of these:

$800. I'd prefer the synthetic, but that is one handsome piece of wood, especially beside the satin stainless. 30-06, instead of the .308, which I can probably live with as well. Why must I be tortured like this?
