Searching for reloading supplies for 7x57, 8x57, etc.

Just gave some family 1lb of D4350, hunting season coming up and they couldn't find powder anywhere.
Neighbor just paid $100 for a box of 7mm Rem...I said holy ####, had I known I would have loaded him some up.
Brutal out there.

LGS has IMR 4227 for $90 + tax. And that's it: just one 1lb jug and nothing else! It's not my first choice in powders, but it does make nice reduced loads for mid-sized rifle cartridges like 308, 8x57, 7x57 etc. Your 4350 would have been perfect for me :(

For 7x57, I am partial to 160+ grain Nosler Partitions and Norma Oryx bonded 156+ grain. I'll take any quality large rifle primer, Federal, CCI, S&B, etc.

For 8x57 I look to Norma 196 grain Oryx.

Not sure if this is any help to you or not, but a guy at our club just recently tried D4350 in his CZ550 375 H&H with some interesting results. The velocity of 270gr bullets was more than 200 fps SLOWER than the same load using the full-house load of IMR4350.

That makes it more than a bit slower that 760.

I have to do some more work with the jug I got, only used it in 6mmCM so far fire forming, next trip will be with the Chrony.
I won't be upset if it's closer to IMR4831 though as I'm running low on it.
The D4064 I bought a bunch of, 1/2 grain less then my varget loads gives same velocity in my 308 with 168's. Just as accurate too.

If it's just paper punching and range time i suggest you look into casting your own.

^^ So do I. It doesn't have to be the big performance that some casters go through. I have used LEE bottom pour pots for years and years, plus LEE moulds, LEE bullet sizer/gas check install dies. I keep it simple, and still enjoy casting. Many years ago, I tried paper wrapping cast bullets. I've forgotten the little tricks learned back then, but recently bought a book written specifically about paper wrapping, so I'll fiddle with that this winter.

I usually can't bring myself to shoot expensive jacketed bullets at paper, but that's just me.

I have a jug of d4350 i bought a few years ago and I had the same result with 7mm08. About 250fps below book values. My barrel is 4" shorter than the test gun I'm comparing to (from Speer #12) but still.

I haven't been looking for powder luckily, but I haven't had much issue finding 7mm bullets lately.

There isn't a Cabela's close to me, and their shipping charges are obscene! Too bad, as that is a perfect powder choice!!

Do you have a local Canadian Tire store, with a firearms/reloading supply department.

Our local store seems to be able to source powders such a IMR4064 fairly regularly and has done so since the drought began, usually a bit cheaper than Cabela's and they seem to have a reasonable selection of Nosler/Speer 7mm bullets on the shelf.
