Sending a shout out to all the fellow Ontario turkey hunters.
Have you spotted any good flocks this year so far?
Here is one of my harvests last season.

Yes, seeing a lot of birds out and about. My game cam is picking up a large flock that is holding about 6 toms, although they don’t seem to be anything extraordinary. Likely two year old toms.

Looking for a place to hunt turkeys near Ottawa this spring, any advice? Thanks

I see turkeys east of Ottawa between Vars and Cheney whenever I go to EOSC. The other place is around Manotick, but there are lots of houses around there. You have to be careful where you are because crossing the city limits changes your hunting privileges.

I see them at my workplace. They will walk right up to you cause they know they are safe. Depending on the season we get Canada Geese at one part of the day and turkeys at the other.

Looks to be a great season!
This will be my second season. The pic shows my first ever turkey. Tom Kelly's book Tenth Legion was a great read and had all the info I needed to learn how to hunt them properly.

Lots of activity for my 2 areas north of Kingston and near Athens ON. I'm wondering if the unseasonably warm weather is a factor?

Alon I like your short barreled shotty. Looks like a Win SXP or Defender? Can you give some details.

Sounds like the turkey population is doing well. It's a Mossberg 590A1, 18.5 in barrel with the Blackout .660 choke. I like to get the gobblers closer than 40 yds.

My second season and also agree it’s looking good. Besides fields I’ve seen them showing up in the parking lots and walking the highways

As brybenn noted, the mild winter has been a good thing, as far as turkey are concerned. Lots of birds. From the numbers locally, this should be a productive season. Winter flocks have not started to break up, yet. Will likely see some movement, within the next couple of weeks. The occasional Tom is beginning to strut and show off a bit to the ladies.

Saw lots of big flocks while driving from Ottawa to Toronto last week. I was amazed to see them on the shoreline below Parliament and as well across the river on the islands of Gatineau.
