I can't help but notice, how many members have stuff up for sale and have little knowledge of what it is! On GN there is no adding of comments to correct these sellers, and, this is too bad. Even asking prices match original milsurps.
Some stuff up for sale I have seen lately..A .303 sporterized piece with civy scope called a Sniping rifle.
A ground/peened Mum called unground capture piece.
AG42 sporterized stock and handguard cut back, no mention it's sportered.
AG42 with assy and the original owners iron cross? Well there could be a cross border true story to this WWII soldier that I would love to hear!
Seller calling a recent made after 45 katana length piece an original. Original what?
Etc, etc etc.
To the knowledgeable shooters/militaria collectors on Milsurp keep up the good advice. A lot of people out there need it.

No. We used to be able to post in other people's threads in the EE and it caused too many problems. If you see an advertisement that has an incorrect or incomplete description of the item and you can help with information, not opinion, send a polite Private Message to the seller.

Lol the Ag-42 and the Iron cross.. that's awesome. Wish I had seen that. Like selling a Mosin Nagant with an awesome ruger style bolt for more money because its been butchered by a good gunsmith.

How could you doubt that? Now I've got this 98 mouser along with a Hero of the Soviet Union medal that was awarded to the soldier.

Also a japanese arisaka with the VC awarded to the soldier for stopping a Klingon attack.;)

Oh boy...

As others have mentioned, feel free to send sellers an informed but polite PM if you really know what you are talking about. Of course there is always a chance those 'offended' by inaccuracies in the ads don't know FA either.

As for complaints about prices; #### ain't free. If you like the price, buy it, if not move on.

X2 I have seen it get out of hand on some sites that allow comments on the EE.

quite a few members ask about value in the respective forum before posting in the EE...

others...not so much.

like Tooner said tho...education by PM is allowed!

And I think that's OK. Hey, I recently asked about an Eaton's Carcano sporter hereabouts because I haven't got a lov'in clue what they are worth. I know my prices on pieces in my areas of interest, but not on others.;)

I've been trolling the EE for many moons looking for an 03A3 Springfield action for a build and I've gotten a few responses with various stripes of '03s, but no 03A3s yet:(. I don't expect everybody to be an expert on Springfields, the same way that I don't know diddley about Carcanos or the more obscure Mauser or Nagant variations. So why not ask.:)

If a piece is over-priced or incorrectly described on the EE, chances are that it will have a long trail of "bumps" behind it and the seller should probably draw the obvious conclusions about price and/or condition. It's kind of like selling a house. If you are motivated to sell and price it right, it will sell.:welcome: If you are just testing the water or being unrealistic on price or condition, it becomes just another dog that won't hunt.:bangHead:

How many of you out there have seen the," Well I don't know what it's worth but if you want to get rid of it [for cheap]post?"Sometimes take the advise you get with a grain of salt.

what sucks is the guys who pour the heart in soul into learning about these firearms only to have arseholes trying to milk them for enough knowledge to make a quick buck on rolling someone else over who is trying to sell a rifle.

the biggest problems with comments on the EE were people who figured that the price being asked for Gun"A" should be the same as when they saw a similar gun somewhere else for way less. They would then post some snide comment.

The owner sets the price, and they can ask whatever they want. They either sell it or they don't.

I've had lots of guys enlighten me about a rifle I've had for sale. Sometimes they know way more about a particular item then I do. Sometimes not. If they are polite about it, I update my add with their information, after I research it a bit more to make sure it's accurate. If they are not so nice about it and seem more like an armchair armorer with more opinions then ammo I block them from any future sales.

I've dealt with some quite "interesting" people on here. It is not easy keeping a 100% trader rating.

I posted a warning with a guy who was selling a Type 38 Arisaka that the little circles stamped around the intact mum on the reciever meant that the rifle was deregulated to a training school during the war. That could mean anything from the bore being shot out and wildly inaccurate to being unsafe to fire live ammo through it.
Things that make you go "Holy S@#%!"

I've seen that done too on Arisakas that some believe the Mum is still correct. i have also heard that this was done before being sold off or given to the Thai military. Not sure.

Often times, I have seen sellers offering rifles for sale that seem to be either very overpriced (as per my research into their make, model, rarity etc) or severely under priced. Sometimes the seller may not have a very good idea exactly what they are selling, especially when it comes to the more obscure models of common types of milsurps, such as Mosins, Enfields etc. In this case, I have pm'd the seller politely and informed them of the matter, as in some cases the rifle is worth more than they are asking and it's always nice to help someone out. :)
