Selling US M14 stocks...

well.... it's not impossible to get them imported.... Fabsports has managed it ....... somehow.
But if yer hurtin for a g.i. stock, p.m. me , I know of one other canadian source that is "off the grid" ;) and has a couple stocks left

Thanks! Actually, I was browsing the wood stocks, as I already have a USGI stock bought from the EE.

Maybe the M1A title gets around it. I was looking at some similar stocks with that designation. They were titled M1A but you could see the selector cut out....

The one I got for sure doesn't have the selector notch in it.

However, I can already see the discussion at the CBSA counter. (I am there daily I do importing for a living)

"Sorry, you cannot import an M14 stock."

"It's not an M14 stock, it's an M1A/M14 stock, it doesn't have a selector switch notch. M14S's and M305's are 100% legal in Canada and this is made for them, not a military M14, and it's not a stock from an M14."

"Still, it's not legal to import."

"It is. You can call the CFC or CFO right now and they will tell you that is incorrect. I'll call the CFO right away and we can talk to them together so we can clear this up."

"Sorry, I am not going to do that."

"No, you mean you're 'choosing not to do that.' Calling them will resolve this matter to the letter of the law and I can get my import."

"No, I am just not going to do that."

"Selective enforcement. Got it. I'll call the CFO myself and have them call you directly. I am no rush for the stock. Tomorrow or the next day is fine with me."

Usually by the time I walk away from the desk, they end up calling. And I have had this fight with them before. Usually after a 10 minute back and forward, it always works out, but not after exhausting time.

My Springfield M1A came with a M14 stock that has the selector cutout, I also ordered two used M14 USGI stocks from a US supplier a few years back that both have selector cutouts.

I wish I had ordered more now that it seems to be such an issue.

I don't think it is a problem on the Canadian side of the line, but rather, a problem on the American side, with the exportation of a US State Department restricted good. As far as I know, once it is in Canada, they don;t care, it is the getting it out of the states part that is a bit hairy.
