Milling the idea of getting a mini 14 in 6.8mm for all purpose hunting rifle (wanted it to be a little tacticool too) but, the more I read the more it sounds like the worlds least accurate rifle. Not sure of the round either.

I need your help and experience.
This is what I am after:

1.) a semi auto, that fires a round that can be used for deer , black bear to whatever.
2.) Looks cool and can possibly have attachments (tactical factor?)
3.) A rifle I don't have to be a gunsmith from China to see it's full potential

I am sure there have been posts like this but, CGN SEARCH hates me.

Who has an idea?
Thanks for your help

The new mini's shoot great. Mine easily shoots 2" all day. A mini 30 or a mini 14 in 6.8 would be great. I also have a CZ 858 and I love that gun. It is completely tricked out with all the tacticool accessories. It is accurate and the Wolf 154 grain soft points perform perfect on any game that is about the size you are asking about. One of the new Russian SKS's would also fill the bill quite nicely. I personally would lean to the 7.62x39 over the 6.8 for a number of reasons. Absolutely nothing wrong with a mini 14 though - you can't believe everything you read and the new mini 14's are much better built than the old ones.

Remington 750 woodsmaster 308 win. carbine 18.5 inch barrel. Mini-30 are nice to but limited power-deer calibre. Whereas the 308 will take down bigger game much easier and ammo selection is far better

I may have a browning safari .270 with matching browning scope for sale if anyone is interested.

Used to have a Norinco M-14, Would be neat to use from a stand. not sure about using it as walking around rifle, the barreled action must weigh over 10 lbs by itself easily.

Im currently working up a load for a friend, he has a BAR in 30.06 and i have to say its pleasant to shoot. Semis are definitly not as friendly for reloaders but its working out fairly well after some adjustments.

Greywolf,

" Not as friendly to Reloaders" IE some Autoloaders do a number on brass (also it usually always needs FL sizing and sometimes with Small base dies).....One also has to think about the gas sytem so loads sometime have to be tailored for it.....IE heavy bullets in certain guns and correct powder burn rates......

I would say that the type of action has something to do with the way reloading is done.

At the end of the day I would rather load for a bolt action but to each their own.
