Hi guys,

Could you steer me towards what is the best quality non-restricted 308 ar10 type lower and upper?

Want to build something awesome and non-res.

Best quality is ATRS Modern Hunter, next is Stag, next is BCL. Only issue is you cannot simply buy the upper and lower from ATRS so yes, Stag for that purpose.
 
Best is subjective, there are many options with many features with many budgets in mind. Do your reasearch and learn about the platform. For Gucci BCG look at Lantac, JP, SEI, LMT, etc.

For most a NiB group from any well established company will satisfy your needs.

Nickel boron then,

I dont care about cost, i just want to keep the weight down because the rifle will be used for hunting

What about titanium bcg??

Well you won't like the weight the non restrict .308's as loade up with scope and ammo all are 10 lbs. and up !

If ultra light is your game, be prepared to spend upwards of five thousand on just the rifle no optics. The BCG is the last place I would cut weight, as it can effect reliability and cause some tuning headaches. JP LMOS if you must go light weight though!
 
Throw a pencil barrel and a 13 inch handguard on there.
Add a 2-7 Leupold and your set.
Should put you at 8 lbs , maybe a little above.

That should put you around the $2000 range.
 
Still i have to go with my FNAR 308, this rifle of the bench is more accurate than my KAC SR25.

I have yet to find a SA more accurate than the FNAR.

Many dont like this rifle but for a fact this rifle is a sub .75 MOA some times and a sub MOA rifle all the time.

My FNAR Competition mounted with my S&B 5X25X56 PMll will shoot sub moa any day of the week with it's tailored load.

Sorry i cant be looking for another NR rifle to replace it,
It is at the top of the food chain for a NR 308.

PS: I ordered another FNAR Competition before we get hit by C71.
 
My Stag 10 is at 6.51lb bare, 7.81lb with optic & mount, 8.3lb with sling & bipod. I'm into the rifle for about $5500 total.

I'm using the Brownells Titanium BCG, it is actually a few grams lighter than the V7 Weapon System Titanium BCG. So far it has run fine for 200 rounds.

Here's a quick run down on parts

If you are concerned about weight the bigger more expensive items have the best value for saving weight. Barrel, Handguard, BCG, Optic, optic mount, buttstock. All the little titanium parts don't add up to much and are expensive
 
The Stag is miles ahead right now, and can shoot sub MOA all day long, with right barrel and trigger.
 
Haven’t played with a custom stag yet though I have a receiver set ready to go. I do have a nice MH and have to say it’s a gorgeous gun. I love it for the fit and finish atrs is capable of and for that fact that it’s built in Canada. It’s being compared directly to an AR10 though, and it’s really it’s own rifle due to the number of proprietary parts. The MH was in its prime until a couple years ago when more user friendly nr options hit the market.

If you’re going with a professional custom build that you’re not going to play around with I would say the MH is still a fair option. If you want to do your own thing with a much greater variety of parts, the stag 10 is what I’d do.

My MH still has a spot in my safe. Recently had a blk lbl handguard with integrated bipod installed and wow - huge fan. It’s another Canadian company that makes a beautifully finished, quality product.
