Semi-auto shotguns worth it in Canada? given the magazine limits

they look like fun but i wonder if i'll be bored with the 5-6 magazine limits
Welcome newish guy. What do you shoot now and do you often run more than 5 rounds in succession with a pump action shotgun?

I expect OP is either talking about 5+1 loading or perhaps the guns where you can get an extra 2.75" round into a 5 round 3" shell magazine.

i like the sound of this... but what is it? i'm only seeing 5+1 everywhere. extension tubes that are Canada legal are only +1. what is the second +1 coming from ?
Some guns allow you to put a shell on the lifter along with a full mag tube and one in the chamber. It's called 'ghost loading' and there are lots of videos on youtube that explain it. It's a bit of a faf to do it and it is only useful at the start of a shot string, you can't do it while reloading the gun on the fly like in competition shooting.

The 6 rounds in the mag comes from the mag needing to only hold 5 rounds of whatever ammo it is designed for. So, a gun with a 3" chamber cannot hold more than 5 rounds of 3" shells. Typically this means that it will hold 6 x 2.75" shells.

look up ghost loading but not all shotguns can do it and some shotguns are more finnicky to get it working so your mileage may vary

Grab an ultima patrol .((edit)Im thinking 7+1 no good in canada so 5+1 (2 3/4") and ghost load for 6 and if you use legal mag ext i think you can get 7) ! , pretty fun gun eats everything ,sorta pricey in Canada unfortunately ...I bought mine for $900(usd) stateside on sale.
