So many good semi-auto shot guns out there. Is there actually one that is better than the other, so hard to choose one. Looking at these:

Benelli Super Black Eagle 2
Benelli Super Vinci
Beretta A400
Remington VersaMax
Browning A5 Hunter

Any comments would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I have browning sliver and honestly don't see what all extra money for Benelli or Beretta will get me. if I was you I would see how many you could try first hand to see which you like as we all have our own personal likes/ dislikes for hunting guns

If I had to pick one from the list, it would be the A5. They're great guns. Otherwise I'd be using a Browning Gold every day of the week. Of course, they no longer make them, so I'll jump on the SX3 bandwagon. It's a great gun for sure.

I've got a Bowning Gold Hunter I got 2nd hand for $550.

Virtual twin sister to the SX2.

I have a classic too, a 1964 A5. 2 3/4" fixed modified choke. Does the job on ducks, that's for sure. Love the "ka-chunk."

The semi's you have listed are all great guns. I just picked up a new semi, I opted for the maxus, which is not on your list. I had considered most of the same guns, handled them all, I liked the maxus because it is as light as the a5 hunter, but gas operated, so felt recoil "should" be less. I did not like the SBE II as it felt quite barrel heavy (reminded me of my 870 supermag with a 28" barrel) but, to each their own. I went for 3.5" only because of price, it was cheaper than the 3". Why? Because the LGS is getting out of hunting guns and wanted it gone.

Go handle the guns on your list, or at least the ones you can get your hands on, and start narrowing the options down by what fits, or does not. Which ones feel the best in your hands, or doesn't. As far as reliability, I have no idea. Everything breaks/wears out eventually. Some brands just get to that point sooner than we would like. All companies have lemons, just some have more than others.

I don't think you can go wrong with anyone of the guns on your list, or the weatherby SA-08, or the SX3. You have picked the guns on your list for some reason or other, so stick to what you were originally interested in.

All good guns on your list. Personally I shoot a Gold hunter, 1967 Auto 5 Light Twelve, and a Benelli M2. I love each of them. I think you are on the right track for quality guns, and should now choose by feel and handling. You need to shoulder the guns on your list and see what feels like an extension of your body. Dont underestimate or under appreciate fit and feel when choosing your gun.

Ive used benelli, browning, win, rem and beretta, stoeger, baikal and breda autos. Currently only have the beretta 391.

If you are looking for a 12ga, the A300 outlander is the best priced one of the bunch.
