September Purchases ......... Note: 2005 (not this years)

Just received a K31 from P&S, nice rifle, white bore. Getting the precision sight set through diopter's group purchase, so it'll be ready for target shooting.

Found this little gem in at Gunco for an unusually low price  All matching except the bbl which is a blued Russian bbl, but mismatched. Maybe 15-20% remaining finish and not refurbed that I can tell. No import marks, no stupid flip safety, and unfortunately no known history :( One grip has a small ship near the slide release retaining clip. Bore is mint. I dropped some new Wolff springs into her just in case and shot it today - it's a keeper!

For those who don't speak "Russian Milsurp", it's a 1941 made TT-33 Tokarev made at the Tula factory at the height of the "Great Patriotic War" - the Rooskies were busily loosing the war at the time thanks in no small part to Stalin's purges of the officer corps in the 1930's. That is often reflected in the rough machining and heavily used look of unrefurbished Russian small arms of the time.

Shown with my unissued Hungarian 1954 made Tok ;)

Wrong forum

What's the wrong forum?? These Tokarevs are milsurps! Neither are commercial or anything... I don't get it?

maybe he was referring to the baloney sandwich or language lesson portions of the September milsurp purchases forum...

I picked up an Eddystone P17 tastefully sporterized by BSA sometime in the distant past. I took it to the range this afternoon and tenderized my shoulder with 160 rds of ammo. The bore is bright, rifling crisp, and no rust or pitting anywhere. Deep gloss bluing (95%+) and a plain walnut stock. It's chambered for .30-06, has a 23" barrel, and a serial number in the H21XX range.

Anyone know any date references for this rifle?

I think that these rifles were done in the 50s, or early 60s at the latest. They are rather nice, businesslike rifles. Don't know what you paid for yours, but the two that I bought and sold represented excellent value.

Picked up a Krag Jorgenson in 6.5x55. Bubba got at the wood, but the metal hasn't been frigged with. Now another rifle I've got to find a replacement stock for. But that's okay, at least I know no-one is gonna drill and tap it.

the latest...

This is what I found this month...
