** September Purchases **

In my best "Mr. Burns voice":

Excellent... The Sestroryetsk M91 from Valley Guns is now mine...

Won it about 45 seconds ago :) $207.00 cdn.

Got a long steyr 95 in 8x56mm. I LOVE IT! I also got 30 rnds of nazi and pre nazi marked ammo. I do not know where it was made. It just says steyr M95, with a big S a bit forward. I have seen other steyrs that say BUDAPEST on it, bit this one doesnt say where it was made.

BTW, were there ever telescopic sights attached to them? it seems they would have made nice snipers. I like the bolt, except it was hell getting the lug flush with the extractor!

I bought this mauser from a farm auction yesterday....

I have no clue what country it comes from or what calibre it is. On the reciever it says Fab. Nat. D'armes Guerre, Herstal-Belgique. I thought it might of been 8mm but the bore is to small or a 308 but it will not chamber but a 30-06 will. Any help on this one guys i wanna figure out what cal. it is for sure if anyone knows:confused:

Your rifle will be Austrian made. You should also see a Hapsburg double eagle (small stamp) on the receiver with two numbers. The numbers are the last two digits of the year of manufacture. You should also see a small stamped WG which indicates Vienna, the place of manufacture.

My references state that the M95 long rifle was not manufactured by Austria after 1917. The "S" indicates conversion to the M30 8x56R round.

Probably an M1950 Belgian export mauser in .30-06. Nevertheless, get a smith to look at it and make sure it's really '06 and not some wildcat like 8mm-06 or whatever.

Filled a hole in the collection, Persian contract CZ carbine in 8mm.

K98k for size comparison.

Woo-hoo! Scored an M24 Civil Guard rifle (stepped barrel SIG, x-mas tree marked).

Now I just have to keep repeating to myself... I am not a Mosin collector, I am not a Mosin collector...

Phew! I feel better!

I got a couple this month;
Top is an un-issued Savage No.4Mk1* All matching of course
Middle is a No.2Mk.1* made at Enfield in ‘45
Bottom is an M-39 done by VKT. Post war stock but the only serial numbers (bolt + receiver) match and the bore isn’t to bad at all.

Nice! The Persians are beautifully made and scarce in Canada. That front sight is integral with the barrel isn't it?

Thanks Andy, sight blade dovetailed and adjustable for windage, guard/ears are integral, same as 98/29 long Persian.
