Serbu Super Shorty Remington 870 .12ga* AOW

Well that is impressive, I'll have to drop by his shop some time and check out his 870 barrel production line, sounds cool, Thanks

I believe if it is manufactured, it is ok, if you do it in you shed with a hacksaw, then no!
Won't fit many rounds in though, mag fed would be cool!

It must be manufactured from scratch.

You can't cut a pre-existing shotgun barrel below 18".
It doesn't matter if you have a manufacturing license or not.

So can you use a "blank" or is that a "no-no" and I'm wondering what Dlask paid REM for the licensing of the shotgun barrel? or did he design his own and patent it?
I wonder if the patent on the REM 870 barrel is expired?

I'd recommend purchasing a Dlask 870 Shorty. Barrels are amazing and work is excellent. 8.5"! They fabricate a beautiful heavy barrel from a blank and as well produce the arms and forend. I have an 8.5 and it's one gun I'll never separate with. I ordered it with the short LOP hogue stock and they send you a pistol grip as well but obviously it's restricted if you choose to install it.

Thanks, BTW who makes the "blanks" you speak of? does Dlask do all the metallurgy, forging/casting and maching in house? That's one hell of a barrel

I am not sure who supplies the barrel blanks but it's a much heavier profile.

I am looking at a 12.5" or 14" barrel to shorten up a Wingmaster I have at home.

If I can say this, I only have one issue with having such a short barrel. That is you are limited with only that size due to the shorter arms. If I would do it again I'd go 12.5 or 14 inch and install a pistol grip on it. More rounds in the tube and far more options. I'm only saying this because I have an 8.5 inch. I like having both.

If you don't have one yet you will need one in your collection but you may sway to build another after that and have a few for many uses.

I can't say enough positive regarding Dlask and their product.

at this type of length, a mag-fed would make more sense :)
That's what I was saying too! That would be awesome, run a 10 round mag! . Personally I wouldn't want anything shorter than 12-14" , but mag fed, that way you have a choice of compact 3 round mag or 10 round, maybe more! Quick initial loading and reloading!

I like the mag fed idea but I've heard they can be difficult to get running properly. I know the early grizzlz shotguns had this issue.

Would this be a shotgun for back country protection?

Dlask actually had some of the Serbu forends and action bar sets available a while ago and set some of their shorties with them. Throw on a pistol grip and register as a restricted, and you have your very own Canadian Shorty.

Casey at TacOrd can build you one. Import the fore end. Casey can cut down the mag tube. Dlask will make you a custom barrel. If you run the Mesa Tactical stock adapter and keep the barrel at 8.5", you should be in the 26in OAL range.
