Seriously thinking about a .50 AE

Don't forget that if you have the .50AE you can also purchase a .44 mag barrel and magazine and swap out to the .44 when you want to shoot it more as well. .44 and 50AE use the same slide face and extractor. Have fun!
 
I wouldn't mind 'trying' a DE in 50AE but after trying my buddies 500 S&W, I decided that's what would make my life complete. In addition, :redface:I hate 'chasing' brass so the 500 S&W is what I ended up with:D.

I think you should be able to pick up a good used one for $1500 easy. I really enjoy mine and shoot it quite a lot. The only failures I've had on mine were the result of people either limp-wristing or pressing up on the magazine as they shoot (which the gun doesn't seem to like). I found it very easy to get a hand load for mine and I'm using Berry's 350gr bullets which aren't too pricey. Get one and have a blast man. Myself if I want to shoot 44 mag I've got a nice S&W revolver, you get the DE to shoot 50AE.

When you get one and it's $100 a box of 20 @ the local gun shop we will see how much bs you spew, opposed to my reality.
Also when you own as many firearms as I do it's hard to spread the love and time at the range since I do work for a living.

Johnn Peterson the 50AE fells like a 357 compared to the "BOOM" my 500 S&W makes. I still am too afraid to smack the 700 grainers threw it. Plus after 5 rounds of this bad boy I can't pick up a paint brush for the rest of the week. Although I do get roughly the same groups @ 25 meters between the 2 handgun's. Just suck's that we can't take this on a hunt as it would be a beauty buck/moose/elk gun for people that get board of the whole archery hunting. ;)

I found in the testing of different cast and jacketed bullets I've had access to, once I got to weights over something like the 500gr Hornady, accuracy started to drop off. As in the picture I posted earlier of mine, I changed out the Hogue grips it came with for the custom ones,;) just because of the recoil and Boom factor of top end loads. It has the ability to inflict pain, at both ends but the custom grips make it bearable. It is a handful, even with the new grips.

I was looking into a Moose hunt in Alaska with the 500 and that is #1 on my list, following a bit of luck on a future Loto 649 draw.

This is exactly why I bought DE in .44mag and I don't recommend .50 for those who intend to shoot a lot.
The same as you I own a lot of guns of all kinds and some of them are safe queens, but not because I can't afford ammo. And I work for a living, too.

Yes, the 460 does have the versatility of being able to 'handle' 45LC and 454 Casull in addition to 460 S&W, but my choice if I want to shoot those additional calibers, I'd buy the gun for it. Or, if you want to shoot at 45LC or 454 Casull velocities, load the 460 down to those velocities. Cheaper ammo:confused:, by pushing any amount of ammo through either, reloading is the game of the day and as such, the cost difference in reloads between the two isn't all that great. And a bigger boom factor?? Not from the ones I've seen:).

rounds cost about $3 a shot. some places have them in stock cheaper but when u add tax and shipping its more then $3

i looked around allot when i bought my desert eagle. it was a MK 19 and had the fluted barrel and every thing. i got it used for $1100. just got lucky.
mine is a .44. i think you can have more fun with the .44. lots or different ammo you can try and cheaper and still a big bad a** round.

i know someone who has an origenal desert eagle mk1 with the 13" barrel in .357 if your interested. nothing turns heads more then that with a grate big scope on it.its $995

i havent bought from him before. i'm sure its legit. but if you can find one local might be your best option. i think just about every gun store that carrys pistols carrys magnum research.

but dont you think that 13" is sweet. the only reason i never got it is because the mk1s parts are abit smaller then the mk19s. $999 is a good price it would be more of a gun just nice to have i think.

 
I decided to give this Astor Arms place a chance after researching it more everything looks good.

I ordered my 50ae Desert Eagle (American version) today and with any luck it paper work will come through and it will be shipped asap!!!

I am super excited and with shipping and taxes in it came to 2100 which is not so bad... I was really hoping they would be a little more inexpensive but there is just something I love about buying something brand new so I am alright spending a little extra for it.

I appreciate all the help you guys have given me with my shopping!!!
 
Love mine, not high maintenance like some people say. I've changed the springs once. Never had a part break, and it's well over 8,000 rounds through it since I got it new in the mid 90's.
