SERPA II holster widget

Just picked up an excellent Serpa II holster for my Sig P220. Everything is pretty self explanatory, except for the small plastic square with the hooked edge. What the heck is that thing for?:confused:

I wondered about that, mine was loose in the package. Couldn't see where or what it came off. But unless they throw one in with every holster, how could an injection molded/carbon fibre holster collapse?

Ha!. More likely they would use USPS. But TSE did and it arrived in two business days! Sometimes CP gets it right. :D

I've played with the widget all afternoon, trying to figure it out. The only thing that makes any sense is that its a tool for the serpa latch....but I can't see how.
