SERPA II holster widget

Just picked up an excellent Serpa II holster for my Sig P220. Everything is pretty self explanatory, except for the small plastic square with the hooked edge. What the heck is that thing for?

It helps keep the holster from collapsing during shipping. Same as paper or cardboard in shoes.

I wondered about that, mine was loose in the package. Couldn't see where or what it came off. But unless they throw one in with every holster, how could an injection molded/carbon fibre holster collapse?

I was wondering the same thing. My USP holster came with a little part labelled 'Sig 226'. I don't think it's to prevent the holster from collapsing.

Ha!. More likely they would use USPS. But TSE did and it arrived in two business days! Sometimes CP gets it right.

I've played with the widget all afternoon, trying to figure it out. The only thing that makes any sense is that its a tool for the serpa latch....but I can't see how.

When I got my serpa II it was seated in the hoster. Mounted from side to side with the hook over one edge.
