Service CQB @ Borden 19 Sep (warning, pic intensive!)

We were actually required to fire all 3 shots or none at all. The premise was that you double tapped 2 into the chest scoring area, (but the target is wearing body armor, so..), then fire the third into the head scoring area. If you didn't make the head shot you would lose 10 points. If you didn't fire any, you just got a zero. Now that it's almost going on a week since the event, I can't remember exactly how the 3 shots scored. I'm sure someone else will chime in for that.

I was thinking of the stage, and correct me if this is not right, where you advance and fire. Then it is pistol with 2 mags, 5 rds each mag, 5 shots on each figure 11 head shots only. Is it 1 shot per target per exposure, or as many as you can fit in the time limit?

ETA, ok, I think I was misunderstanding, it is 1 15 sec exposure for this, and not 5 4 sec exposures, that must have been the rifle stage. So on the rifle stage (snap), is it limited to 2 shots per exposure?

IIRC, the one rapid stage required that you fire your rifle rounds, then advance with 10 pistol rounds (5rd x 2 mags), firing 5 rds into each target (i.e. 5 into the left, then 5 into the right). Personally, I never got a chance to get my 2nd mag loaded and going in time to engage my 2nd target in either the walk through or the match (I suck :p ). It may be best to just PM Hungry, he has the full set of rules and requirements for each stage.

Well, even in those days I could shoot better than that guy with the SKS ;)... LOL

I was thinking that for the SKS you just pre load all your stripper clips with the required 4 or 5 rounds. Then when you need to reload you just slap in that clip and off you go. I think you were using the full 10 round stripper clips, right?
I'm sure you have some empty clips around, just put whatever load out you need for that particular match on a clip and stuff it in the top. Arguably, loading that way will make it as fast as an AR mag change if you practice it. Only problem of course is the change after shooting two exposures when you would be left with one round.

That's exactly what I did from the beginning... the second time, (not the practice run) I was loading only 4 rounds when required.. this made a big difference, but I had to finish the reload (after firing) before TimK yelled stop.

the thing that messed me up a couple of times was not pushing the rounds down deep enough into the mag because i was rushing, and getting double feeds..

the ensuing jams used up all the allocated time.
That happened to me twice and I didn't get any shots off at all for those exposures..

Until that day, I had never practiced speed loading my sks, so it was all new to me..

I'm gonna try and have an AR for the next match, but just in case...

i'm gonna practice my speed loads, I modified the clips to hold 5 rounds only and I modified my tac vest to give me better access to my clips.

Really Plink, I was expecting a more earth shattering idea from you!:D

they changed the minus 10 points rule and just said if you didnt get the head shot then its counds for nothing.

I just bought a lower.. I had an upper kicking around for a while, and now it's complete... sometimes us old guys have to buy stuff in pieces, because of financial commitments (mostly for our kids):D

its a Dlask 701 lower with a colt hbar upper.. hopefully i'll have the lower within a couple of weeks..

you'll see me at OSGC with it before the next match (hopefully) or i'll be sighting it in on game day..
