Service Rifle Calgary

That was years ago Wayne - while you were president of the CSRA, and I was out of the APRA exec the year before service rifle was removed, as you know.

BTW - It would really help service rifle in Calgary if the funds were to be returned to the association to fund improvements at a range willing to host service rifle near Calgary.

Talk to the CSRA , AFIK there are funds in the CSRA account these are pending allocation to two ranges in Alberta that will hold Service condition matches and none are located in K country .

I guess I should ask - who represents the CSRA now (considering that it is no longer a registered association and the final membership have not been informed of any changes) and who did you sign the account over to?

To my knowledge the CSRA is now defunct as was communicated to membership in 2012. I have no knowledge of status or whereabouts of CSRA property - as far as I know it may well have been seized by the APRA upon lockout from the Homestead range. The bank account, if it has or had money in it could be frozen for all I know - I don't and didn't have signing authority.

Most of the nice people that have conspired to kill service conditions shooting in the APRA have also given themselves lifetime memberships so they need the little guys to pay the bills because they don’t.

Well really, life long support of the shooting sports does deserve some recognition!!:rolleyes:

Kinda like corporate executives who vote themselves an increase in pay for a job well done.

Please inform others and don't support the APRA. We will have Service Conditions in Alberta again, just waiting for some ranges to be finished.

That was my understanding as well - Wayne's comments are a surprise and I'd like to see them clarified.

I keep getting account statements delivered to my house so there must be money in the account and all I do is send them to the shredder .Who has authority on the account I am not sure .

Maybe the APRA can stake a claim on the money as a portion of what they are owed?
Probably not, that would require them to open their books for audit....

Maybe none of you should be thinking of touching the money or doing anything with it.
The people involved, will be dealing with it according to law.
And if you notice, this is my first post in about a year.
If you werent involved in the "negotiations" or a csra member of the time, this isnt your business.
There are still issues that need to be worked out.

Is there a time frame?

Don't think I am throwing rocks at you but it years later......

Sorry, please PM me your name and when you were a csra member. Also which csra meeting did you attend and I will update you.

Same thing goes, I aint trying to be dikhed but if people werent involved it isnt their place to be making plans with someone else's money.

We aren't trying to steal anyone's money, or be rude. We just want to shoot service rifle again. If there is money somewhere that is supposed to be used for service rifle, why can't it be spent accordingly to get it running again? It seems like we are our own worst enemies. I've only been involved in the sport for 3 years and would love to be able to shoot in my own province. I'd love to help do whatever needs to be done to get it going again. I'm getting sick of being kept in the dark and being fed crap, and tired of all the politicking, backstabbing, and whining. Tell me what's needed, and let's get it going.

I'm pretty sure Koldt is not implying that.

1) A RANGE: -SR (at least the DCRA game) needs a gallery range to do it justice, but with some creativity, others will do too. 100-500m preferable, but something shorter would be a start. Military ranges are ideal, and there are some civilian ranges in Alberta that are or soon will be capable of hosting matches.
2) VOLUNTEERS - nothing will get done without someone willing to get this showboat on the road.
3) DEDICATED COMPETITORS - hopefully guys get sucked into the addiction at the first match, but life gets in the way of most and time waits for no man....some of us are getting older. Recruitment with 3 gun and CQB courses of fire is a good way to get younger guys hooked.

I've heard rumors of plans for a different gallery style range in southern Alberta. If anyone is privy to that information, true or false, please PM me.

I shot my first service rifle match in February of 2011. I loved it. I dabbled in a few different competitive shooting disciplines prior to that but they just were not for me. I really wanted to give IPSC a go and met a few good people doing that, but I found many people very clique and too many took themselves way too seriously.

The guys at CSRA were completely laid back and open to helping out the new guys. You could tell even the best shooters were there to have fun. Great atmosphere and what a great discipline. I shot 6 matches in 2011 and really took to it. Still willing to help in any way I can. Certainly willing to volunteer time and definitely will show up to the matches if we can get it going again somewhere.
