Who is Doctor Deals?
An outfit located in Moncton NB.
I ordered one of these from SFRC, apparently just before they sold out. Didn't put a stopwatch on the order, but arrived within just a couple days so no complaints there. It came in an unmarked cardboard box that was just under 40 inches in length, well padded and secured inside with molded foam.
Mine came with a scope mount that accepts Weaver-style rings and slides onto the receiver grooves, secured with three cross bolts. Easy to install, quite solid, but much higher and bulkier than I required, so I removed it and simply used a set of rimfire dovetail rings I had on hand. Not sure why some posts have talked about hammering on the scope mount, while others discuss ordering one. Don't they all come with one? If I didn't have a bunch of unused rimfire rings sitting around, I would have used the one from the box and slapped on a pair of Weavers.
The stock is butt ugly but extremely comfortable, IMHO. Metal finish is much better than the old Norinco shortie I owned years ago, trigger is quite light but also fairly mushy and creepy; it's probably the feature that I like the least on this little rifle. The magazine loads easily, rounds feed without incident, extraction is perfect and ejection has also been 100% but not exceptionally strong. Some people seem to need empties to fly as far and fast as bullets; they won't like this gun. I like to shoot rimfires off my back deck, and to aim the ejected empties into a bucket for easy clean-up, so I like the somewhat half-hearted ejection of this thing. An ejector simply has to fling the empties out of the gun, and it does that.
Only shot about a hundred rounds so no real serious test yet. Accuracy is so far unimpressive, but only three types of ammo used, all hi-velocity stuff. Best groups so far have been about 2 inches at 50 yards, off a very casual rest. I expect more care and more ammo testing to improve this...it better, because I won't keep it if that's the best it will do.
It's wearing a big-ass 4-14x scope at this point, but will get a much smaller and lower power optic if it finds a home here. Right now it looks like a big scope with an ugly little rifle bolted underneath it.

Now I can see my muzzle flash at 24 power. $65 Chinese glass will be hilarious at 50y

Ah! That explains it. I didn't realize the full-length guns came with no mount base. Maybe I should put mine on the EE in case somebody wants it?
If one were to have a big-ass target scope permanently on these little guns, maybe the Pic-rail mount would be a better idea, allowing the use of stronger, more solid Pic/Weaver rings. And of course the rail will provide a bit more leeway in the positioning and spacing of the rings. For me, tiny little rimfire rings mounted right on the receiver grooves are preferable with the sort of small scope that I will be using once I finish test-firing.And thanks for the suggestion. I did just that; took it out on the deck at dusk just to see the fireball. Sadly, through the scope...all you see is fire! Even at low power, the size of the fireball exceeds the field of view of the optic. Much more satisfying and fun to shoot from the hip and get the full picture.
I just listed my maple stock blank on the EE if anyone wants to try their hand at making their own stock. The hard and critical work has already been done. I found a big piece of mahogany that I want to work with instead but HATE wasting wood (the maple I glued up and cut already)
